with this game. One girl even says she IS Tifa Lockheart.. they play for hours on end and are trying to justify the magical spells and everything in the game thats anti God as them just looking at it differently. I am not trying to judge, but I am worried that this is just NOT a game a real Christian should play! Do you have any feelings on this?

PS... these aren't kids playing this game, these are people ranging in age from 21-45 years old. We have a small church and I love them all dearly, and I have already talked to my pastors wife about it, who is one of the people VERY much in love with this game. Don't you think its possible that the enemy is decieveing them? Do you think that I would want to just stand by and watch them get hurt? I am asking what your thoughts are, not to be talked down to! I happen to love my church family VERY much, as well as my Jesus! So please, RESPECTFUL ANSWERS ONLY! Thank you

I've never played final fantasy, but I have this argument with my husband all the time about some of the games he plays. I am convinced that God wouldn't like a lot of them.

However, I have learned the hard way that you can't make other people take your views on things. Even if your intentions are good, they will not accept your ideas as their own unless they decide to. I would just make sure to stay away from it if you feel strongly about it, but that's all you can really do.

Try to find small ways to bring up your concerns...don't be preachy. And if they don't listen? You did your best, that's all you can do. Pray about it. The rest is in God's hands.

In Direct Regard To Your Question (as asking for a Christian/Follower of God approach to the matter at hand):

As a minister I see nothing wrong with many games today, but some are in direct opposition to what the Bible literally reads. However (as one example) the Ouija board is a game which can be dangerous to a Christian. Also those games which include spells and such. There is a fine line to right and wrong, and my best answer would be, "If you are a Christian and you know that the Word tells you not to delve into divinations, spiritism, etc? Then you simply stay away from those sorts of things." Some Christians think it is alright, as long as it is a game. However so is russian roulette, and getting into things that are Biblically spoken against in the scriptures is like playing spiritual russian roulette. Simply try approaching these kids with this approach above. And I do hope I have helped in some way.

I do not down those who choose Wicca or anything helse as a spiritual choice for their own lives. However I am giving you an unbiased (i.e. nonprejudice) answer, since you aksed as a Christian to another Christian/Follower of Christ.

Peace, Love & Light,
Jewel

why dont you just have a final fantasy burning. isnt that what christians have always done when presented with a way of thinking that threatens their warped since of propriety?

the other question is: how old is the girl that claims to be Tifa? it could be a case of addiction, a korean man died after playing a MMO for 3-4 days straight with no breaks, its a serious problem. but no more than other addictions such as drugs and alcohol. the more likely explanation is that kids have very active imaginations! they could be playing a game among themselves. ever hear of role playing? its quite popular.

if you took the time to understand the story, you would find that it is actually a morally uplifting experience. beyond the magic which is just to add a flashy fantasy aspect. leave the kids alone. shelter them too much and they'll end up drug addicts or drunks. i've seen too many "christian" friends follow that path once they got out from under mommy and daddys grip.

It feels like its in basic terms a team of babies being stupid and attempting to evaluate there existence with a video interest. I somewhat have performed very final fable's for years or perhaps inspite of the shown fact that i don't have self belief in an prepared faith that is not by using fact of a video interest that is in basic terms my own ideals if those people think of that very final fable is their lives then it feels like they could be in choose for of psychiatric well-being. i've got self belief the in the event that they have been genuine Christians as you place it then they could have been able to play the interest by using fact of ways plenty exciting this is and not get at a loss for words approximately there non secular ideals this is achieveable that they weren't that stable in there perception earlier ever enjoying the interest. additionally in a number of the bright fable video games the church and god play a considered necessary place. one that spring to recommendations is very final fable: approaches wherein the religion that a character has will make the magic of the character all the more desirable, besides the undeniable fact that it additionally shows that the church isn't infallible and that a number of the better score figures may well be corrupt. All in all in feels like slightly that they are going to advance out of and in the event that they lose there faith in Christianity by using fact of it then this is there determination yet i might desire to hardly have self belief that a interest, which from the point out of Tifa could propose they are in all risk enjoying FF7, which does no longer even point out faith or somewhat use god in any way could make somebody give up believing in Christianity or any faith for that count.

Living up to true example it isn't easy with surrounded by wrong information from TV shows such as magical spell. The church and the people mixing the culture been a conflicts for thousands of years. Just keep up the good example of who you are and allow others see that in you and your children. Invite their kids with your kids, be sure to teach your kids not to be judgemental. Avoid the wrong games. This kind of step takes time.

The idea behind Final Fantasy is that machines are slowly killing the planet, and the heros jobs are to fight this. I think that this is a wholesome idea.
The only thing that would be better is for them to do it in real life. Get them together and see if this is why they like the game. If so, start a group that goes up and cleans up parks and things like that. Not only will this get them away from the TV and getting exercise, which is healthy, it gets everyone doing something as a group that can be fun, and helps the enviornment, which is better.
Good Luck!

Some things addict some people, and not others. Any addiction is a problem when it disrupts real life. This can be any kind of addiction from drugs, video games, to religious addictions and eating disorders. Nothing in and of itself is "bad" it's what we do with them. Would you worry so much if they were playing golf all the time? If you wouldnt "judge" them on one account, than dont do it on another.

First off... I play Everquest2. Not familiar with Final Fantasy, but in EverQuest2 there are actually other people playing the game with you that you can talk to as you play, or group up with.
If you feel you shouldn't play a game, don't play.
However, preaching to other people is wrong-it's their decision, just like it is your decision if you want to play.
Playing a character in a game and casting spells in a game is NOT real. Get a grip. What's a 'real Christian'? Who gave you the right to make that judgement, or any judgement, on anyone on whether they are 'real'?
Those are my feelings and opinions.

i think in this crazy world that you need some escape from reality. you can't spend your whole life facing it or you'll be crazy. however, it chances from an escape to a obsession once it starts to take over other parts of thier lives. are they having problems going to school, sleeping, eating or going to work (if they do)? if so then it might be a problem. if not then its just a hobby to get the a little escape from reality. and by the way. they know the game is not real. they are not giving up on god because of it. just because they are not worshipping him every free moment it does not mean that they do not love him just the same. they are just living thier lives. the way people should be.

I have not played this game and don't know much about. But if it is anything like the dungeons and dragons games and I believe this is a role playing game, it is not good. These games seem so innocent and they are opening the door to Satan. You are becoming the person in the game that opens a doorway in the spirit to letting you mind be controlled by someone other than GOD. You are either serving God or Satan so make your choices wisely.
