Our cat had 5 kittens.Recently we had a person come and view the kittens. The cat came over and was fiercely protective of he brood. How can we make the transition of the kittens going to new homes easier for her?.She just seems to know that something is happening?

To TabulatorThe kittens are two months old and drinking and eating food.We seriously cant keep them for much longer. She has been trying to wean them herself but the kittens go to her even while she is standing up.Out of desperation she gives up and lets them feed off her. They are toilet trained and very sociable.

This is an instictive reaction and the mother kitty is doing her part to protect the kittens.

I hope you are planning on the mother kitty raising the kittens for at least a few weeks so they get the mother's milk they need and get proper training and weening. Please don't separate the mother from the kittens right away.

By the time the kittens are a few weeks old, the mother will be ready for a break.

: )
