Do guys like it when the girl takes the initiative to ask a guy out, or is it a turn off? Do they want to be in control and ask her first. There is a guy I'm interested in and I'm not sure if I should call him, I got his cell number from a mutual friend.

I do... goes to show she's not held up by socialized do's and don'ts (such as the guy is supposed to be the one to ask, etc).

It really depends on the guy. If he's kind of macho he will like to take the lead. In that case what you can do is give him some hints (smile at him, talk to him) to show that you're intersted and if he's interested he'll make the next move. if he doesn't, then it just means he doesn't care.
If he's shy he may not dare to ask you out, in that case you should make some more efforts. I don't think it would be a turn off, he would be more than happy to get some help from you!

Its kind of desperation a girl askign a guy out, Guys are naturally bigger, dominant, whereas girls r naturally sweeter, shy, emitionall and right for the male to chase after women and ask dem out, but women asking guys out loosk desperation on the girls behalf, and infact it will make the guy belive he is confident, he is good looking and will become all cocky and belive any girl will like him, but truly a girl asking a guy out seems desperate and not kind of right in a way, the guy can also think the girl is so confident and so secure that she has the balls to aska guy out and that can be turn off for decent men, trust me.

It's ok for a girl to make first move, but then she should back off and let guy take it to next steps, else we feel all weirded out...

i've got 3 brothers and they kinda shy but they tell me they prefer the girl ask them out to the movie or the beach cause they have trouble with first encounters

like to get some suggestions. I like to get the suggestion and then to tease the hell out of her only to end up allowing that suggestion - may be a week or two later.
