My hubby has had a horrible cold all week and despite my best efforts not to catch it from him, I am coming down with my first symptoms. Is there anything I can do now to prevent it from getting really bad by the time I wake up in the morning? (Usually if I go to bed with any symptoms of a cold, no matter how little, I wake up terribly sick) Thanks for any help :)

no cure.but try breathing in steam over a basin, cover with towel, and dont inhale if its too hot!
lots of vitamin c.
and there is a drug that dries you up but i cant recall the name,it does not cure it or prevent it ,but you feel betternot dripping all over the place.
and do not use tissues, they irritate the nose and make it worse,i know it sounds gross but let your nose drip into a basin or like i d o ont newspaper, then wipe nose with clean cloth.

Cold-Ez.

It's a zinc lozenge you can buy at most drug stores. Wal-Mart probably carries it as well.

I take it as soon as someone around me starts coming down with the cold or the flu. The earlier you start taking it, the better. I generally will suck on one every 3-4 hours for a couple of days. I'm such a believer in this stuff that I keep a couple of bags of them in my office to give my team at work when someone starts to come down with a cold.

Be aware that it can upset some people's stomach if you take it on an empty stomach. It also has a little bit of a "chalky" flavor that some people might not enjoy, but I don't personally find it that unpleasant. Simply put, it's the only remedy I've found that consistently works for me.

There is also some clinical research around the use of zinc lozenges that suggests it can dramatically reduce the duration and severity of a cold.

There is an old Chinese remedy that is tried and true.

Although at the moment it's too late for you, I suggest start drinking Ginseng Tea. Drink a couple cups a day. If you need sweetener, use Honey, not Sugar.

In the future, should you get a cold, it won't feel so miserable to you.

For the very best Ginseng Tea, ensure it's Ginseng from South Korea. This type is the very best quality in the world.

As soon as I get a sore throat, which is usually the first symptom of a cold coming on, I take two asprins before going to bed and during the day if necessary.
It seems to always work for me.

Go to the store and buy Cold MD and start taking it right away. You can also start taking Germ Defense and Zycam homeopathic cold spray. Stay in bed tomorrow and rest, rest, rest. Take lots of fluids, especially water and juices. You will be surprised how quickly you can recover.
