When we have trouble walking we tend to do less and this makes the problem worse. For arthritis you will be in less pain and have more stability when walking if you your muscles. This makes the joints more stable.

A safe way to get this exercise with the fear of falling is in a therapy pool.

The pool is heated to bath water temp. And in most cases it has bars in it to hang on to. These pools have a gradual stairs so it is easy to get in. And in most cases they have the bars starting at three feet of water and the pool has different levels up to five feet. And most of the pools they can wheel you in if you can not walk at all.

In some cases insurance will pay for it but if they don't where I live it cost three dollars for a session that is one and half hours. And it is great with the pain and you get to know the regulars and have some company.

As your muscles strengthen walking becomes easier and the pain is less.

The first time that you go only stay for ten to fifteen Min's because of the heat it will make you very tired but stick with it and in will become easier.

And because of the water there is no fear of falling so you can do exercise that you could not do on land

I hope this helps

ostobiflex is hard to like it messes up my stomach, but i take half with food and it works okay, you can also buy a six inch ace bandage and wrap from your left leg from your knee to your hip and try and get as much of the upper quad as possible wrapped it will support the load, adjust to your tightness and up wrap from the knee up don't wrap down cause that's more pain that way~it messes up the blood flow,by baby diaper pins for the wrap they work best~i like the duckies~LOL
