I'm getting married in a beautiful park - no church for me.

My fiance has a fairly strong faith, but questions it all the time so is cool with not getting married in a church

It really depends on the church, I want to get married on a beautiful beach, not some crappy little church, but I wouldn't mind it that much I guess. It is really hard to be an Atheist in this country when the president says that I'm not a citizen of the USA for being an Atheist. For the family and freinds, it might be best to hold it in for a few days or better yet, make sure "God" is not ever talked about. I mean the cerimony might mention "God" once or twice, but it's nothing to get too upset over. The USA is a very intollerant country when it comes to Atheism, let's face it, but a marriage is not the best place to make a big stink about it.

I consider it sacriledge to my religion (REALITY). Religion is no joke, its evil and must go. I would refuse to ever get married in a church. Well,, some churches/mosques/temples I could probably think about it.
Also, I would much prefer to have fun getting married and actually have it meaningfull. Me getting married in a church is makeing the marriage just a big joke from the start. I am married alread, just am not legally married.
Common marriage is as good as legal marriage here. She gets half if we split up etc.

If I were an Atheist/Agnostic (I'm not) I would only get married in a church if I were marrying someone of faith and it was important to them. I would do it for them, not because it was significant to me to be married in a church.

As far as the church considering it sacrilege ... I think each church is different in their views. Some would only marry those of like faith, and others wouldn't ask one way or the other.

I know atheists and agnostics who got married in churches. Mostly for their families. I don't think it's sacrilege. No one ran from the church on fire. Personally, my husband (atheist) and I (pagan) didn't get married in a church. We went down to the DMV, bought the license for $10 and solemnized our marriage ourselves (which is legal in our state). It was cheaper and our families didn't really care one way or another because they know how frugal we are and what our beliefs are.

as long as you pay for it you will get married everywhere and in a church it incredibly is by a clergyman. You sign the same bits of paper, each and all of the non secular rambling is by the by. generally human beings get married in churches through fact they're appealing, atmospheric homes, no deeper which means than that.

I would get married in a church if it would make my wife happy or perhaps just to please my 99% christian family. Personally, I wouldn't care where I got married as long as it was nice and the people I care about could be there.

I don't think I would because I think it would be a bit hypocritical, but if I was marring a Christian and he wanted to marry in a Church, I would be quite happy to marry him in a church.

As long as the Church gets paid I don't think it really matters to them.
