Although both expressions sound similar and are casually used among people, they should be separated and defined.

Being "in Love" conjures up strong feelings, and also reflects a long term attitude about people in a relationship.

"Loving" someone, or anything, is what we all share as humans. We love many things that please us, they can range from certain pets to beautiful people to even inanimate objects...like works of art.

I love to look at the famous painting of the "Mona Lisa". I never get tired of looking at it. Although inanimate, I can see what that person was like in the picture.

So, with Valentine's day fast approaching, it's a good time to pause and reflect on the value of love among people, and show that love in your own special way.

loving someone can be anyone, a friend, family member, dog cat, or something material...
its just someone you really care about and would be upset if that person was not there for u.

in love with someone is like your boyfriend, husband, a lover. its when u are intimate with that person and u cant live without them for the time being. its a loving intimate relationship. intimate meaning sex (maybe, but not always), kissing, touching, holding, sharing personal feelings, trust.....
i hope i helped at least a little

Yes in my opinion there's a big difference. Loving someone is caring deeply for them. This could apply to anyone, your mom, your best friend, a girlfriend, etc... But being IN love with someone, to me is loving someone so deeply that you would do anything for them. Including quitting your job, going against your parents will and flying to China to see your boyfriend for two months, which is what I did. Also to me it means that you are willing to commit your life to this one and only person.

Being 'in love' is infatuation and that feeling that you get when you're near someone you like. It's also lust and that feeling that you get when you want to **** someone's brains out. Loving someone comes out of how you treat someone and act towards someone and wanting their happiness. When you love someone you don't always like that person. Infact, sometimes you can't even stand the sound of their voice or the look of their face, but you love them all the same.

When you are in love with someone, you are as one and you know that you are in love. You can love someone and not be in love with them. I am sure you love lots of people. So think about the people you love and you will find your answer.

i love someone but dont want to make a life with that person, friend, family
Im in love with someone and want to make a life, plan a future with that person. Dream about that person. :)
would do almost anything for that person that's morally, legally possible. It hurts to be away from that person. It's motivating and inspiring to be with that person. It feels even better to be 'in love' with someone that is 'in love' with you. peace

yes you can love someone but not be IN LOVE with them......i think it is a different type of love......when you love someone you are about them and what happens to them.....like you love your parents but i would hope you wouldn't be in love with them.....or same for you children.......i still love my sons father but i am not in love with him nor do i ever think i was.....but i would do anything for him and i care about what happens to him mainly for my sons sake i think but i still love him......my first i still love him even though i don't talk to him that often we are still very good friends and he knows i am always here if he needs a shoulder to cry on or someone to talk to ......buti am IN LOVE with my soon to be wonderful husband he is my everything and i can't even begin to imagine life without him....i hope this helps a little

I would say being in love is more of a feeling of euphoria in the relationship.
