Am i the only person out there who doesnt care? I mean I care to know but not to dwell in the fact. I know how I got here and really thats all I care to know.

Especially since there are many theories out there and not any of them have been 100% proven.

When it is, I will accept it. Until then my major is international finance not beginning of human science...

I'm really just sick of the constant evolution vs. creationism posts. its like thats the only argument christians think is valid and hold over atheists heads. "well you think you came from monkeys"

as if evolutionist, with the proof they have come up with, look more remidial than the proof that christians havent.

and on that note....being an atheist cant surely mean that you automatically believe in (darwins theory at least) of evolution.

in biologist circles there is really no controversy: evolution is fact. They argue the details, and the very beginning is unclear, and there are some gaps here and there, but all agree it is FACT.

The only perceived controversy is christians jumping at the gaps and the origin problem and making a big noise.

Plus, us monkeys will always wonder where we came from. How do you think religions got started in the first place?

Lastly, atheists do not believe in a god. But we must come from somewhere. So while I'm sure there is _an_ atheist out there who believes we magically came into being in some form or the other most sensible ones accept evolution.

To me it's all part of how I fit into this world. I like being part of the world, I love to figure out how it works. Evolution is part of that. I understood the basics and believed in both gravity and evolution when I was a Christian, and still do as an Atheist.

If I just wanted a canned answer that sounded good and made me feel more special than the rest of the world, I'm sure special creation by an omnipotent being with personal interest in me would be very appealing, but I'd rather have an accurate answer that doesn't give me a false sense of superiority.

Hey Hetty

I think it's in our genetic code to seek where we came from, who made us, and stuff.

And don't mind them Chrisitian people because it's coz they have a big base that they're kinda hogging all the creation vs. evolution thing.

Personally, I don't like the whole "My religion says this is the truth, so you should believe in it too." thing. We should just let people believe in whatever they believe or not believe in whatever a lot of other people believe in.

Hetty,
It has to do with Origins, darling.
Not much besides that, either The creationists are right or the evolutionists are right.
If the evolutionists are right than it doesn't matter.
Buy if the creationists are right, which I believe they are, then we have an obligation to our creator.

These debates matter when Christians are trying to remove the teaching of evolution from the school curriculum.

i dint care either! :-D I'm comfortable with the fact that i dont know, and probably never will. why dwell on something you cant control anyway? what i DO care about, is people making half-brained claims that make no sense. i cant, in good conscience, allow them to get away with brainwashing others without putting up a fight with logic :-)

Evolution has been demonstrated. It is as proven as it ever will be. The reason it is a theory and not a law is that scientific theories are descriptive and scientific laws are predictive.

You are not bound to believe it, but it is and will remain the fundamental principle of modern biology.

For me personally, it's so interesting to know that once my ancestors lived in water. I love to swim, and the ocean is a huge spiritual influence in my life, so that's cool to me.
