Sometimes toddlers use their bodily functions as a protest-- maybe she was trying to tell you that she wanted her parents and wasn't OK with you taking care of her. That has nothing to do with how well you cared for her-- I'm sure you do an excellent job-- but in the mind of a 3 year old she might have felt abandoned and having no control of her situation. Make it a game-- sing a clean up song, or have her actively participate in the clean up, or both! Bribery is always good-- in the workforce, they call it "incentives," no reason why you can't use that same tactic while babysitting! Promise an extra few minutes before bedtime, a special show/movie, a treat or a game, anything that means something to her. Call her parents if you can and let her talk to them. She's old enough to know what happened and she might just need her parents to reinforce what you're trying to accomplish. It's always frustrating, so good luck!

Make her take a bath. Stay in the bathroom while she is doing this for safety. Or call her parents and ask what they would like you to do.
