I've gone on some fairly strict cutting diets over the years, and I've found a few key foods that can help you feel satisfied without blowing your calories sky-high.

First, learn to love oatmeal. It's a super food on lots of different levels. It's comforting, filling and one of the best, slow-burning, low glycemic index carbs you can eat (in other words, it stabilizes blood suger and keeps your energy even.) Start your day with it, and even throw in a bowl later in the afternoon. Try to stay away from the flavored, instant stuff and instead dress up Quick or Old Fashioned Oats with sliced bananas, raisins and/or cinnamon.

Next, if you have a sweet tooth, start eating apples. Even if you don't have a sweet tooth, eat them. They are high in water and fiber and do an amazing job of satiating you. Another wonder food, in my opinion.

Also, make sure you are eating enough lean protein at each meal. That means fish, chicken breast, beans or lean beef/pork. 3-4 oz is a good size and will help carry you through.

Finally, be careful of removing too much fat from your diet. One of the biggest mistakes people make is going too low on their fat intake, which leaves them feeling hungry. I'm not saying to eat a stick of butter or a pound of bacon, but rather put some "good" fats in your diet -- they kind that come from olive oil, avocados, nuts and yes ... even a whole egg or two.

The last advice is keep yourself hydrated. Water will make you feel physically fuller and will blunt some of the tendancy to over-eat.

Best of luck!

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

I have found the lower carb diet helps, I don't over do it with cutting carbs just around to 50 carbs a day, you will be suprised how much you can eat, cheese, eggs, most meats, chicken, fish, veg, I am never hungary, in fact you can feel guilty for eating quite a lot and still loosing weight. The only downer is the limatation of bread, chips, potatoes, crisps etc, but I have found you can work these in as long as they add upto 50 carbs a day. With low carb diets you must drink plenty of water at least 2 litres a day. I have found its the most effective way of dieting, and least restricting, i have been on low calorie diets and have felt hungary all the time, In other words a totally miserable exsistance. Because you are in low carb, your body will go into a state of ketosis, and switch over fuel burning, in other words you will use reserves of fat rather than what you are consuming, which is a good pay off because you feel less hungary, my advice is to balence you meals out with plenty of veg, don't eat to much meat, as it can leave you spotty, my skin is lovely since low carb, I have never felt better, Good luck

You only ate about 700 calories and almost half of them were from junk food (cookie, ice cream, rice crispie, marshmallows), so you ate very badly indeed. You ate almost no protein, dairy, fruit or veggies . Hummus has protein, but if you only ate 20 calories worth, then you likely only got 1-2 gm of protein and you need 60 grams daily. You need to eat 1200 to 1500 calories a day. This should include 4-5 servings of carbs, 2-3 servings of protein, 3-4 servings of milk (if vegan then calcium enriched soy) or milk products, 3 servings of fruit and 5-8 servings of veggies. A meat free serving of protein would be 1 cup of beans, lentils or other legumes, 1 egg or 3 oz of tofu. It is unsafe to lose more than 1-2 lbs a week, so you are unlikely to lose 15 lbs by Oct 27. More likely to lose 4-6 lbs.

Make more wise choices in your eating. Look at labels. Choose the foods that are filling but have less calories. For example, vegetables are low in calories, but quite filling. Substitute sugar free foods for treats. The Klondike Slim-A-Bears are half the calories of the regular Klondikes but taste just the same. The Eggo's Special K Waffles are half the calories of regular Eggos and with spray butter and sugar free syrup - it makes a great 150 calorie breakfast or even a great late night snack. There are lower calorie microwave popcorns available and many foods now come in lower calorie options.

The trick is to eat 12 almonds or 20 peanuts or 6 wal-nuts 20 minutes before a meal. That way you are putting the *good* kind of fat into your body, and you will not overeat at meals and you will feel full faster!

Try it, it works. Good Luck, man!

Keep up the good work! Eat more filling 'healthy foods' like those suggested by other writers. Also, check in with yourself and see if you are eating to reward yourself or to comfort yourself. The biggest thing I'd suggest is stepping up your workouts and making sure you are mixing up the workouts you're doing. You're going to be just fine!

When trying to lose weight it's important to increase protein (it fills you and helps keep you full) and decrease empty carbs. Eat wholegrain carbs and keep away from sugar. Dark green veggies are best, eat them with a protein.

For snacks, try protein shakes, yoghurt and fruit with cheese. Include a protein with every snack or meal. You will feel full, have less cravings, and lose weight.
