I can't go....do you think I'll be able to get a postponment (Is this how you spell it?) by phone if I call early?

I live in L.A., California.

Do you think that I can do this in person if I go to court.

I think you were supposed to call in a lot earlier than that to get a postponement. You can probably still get one, but they won't be happy.

Congradulations on being selected for jury duty. Been there, done that when I was in college. I hope you contacted your instructors in advance about your jury duty. If not, you still have voice mail &/or email options. Your instructors can reschedule your winter finals either later in the day tomorrow or after you finish your service. The courts can issue you a letter if needed to explain the situation to any instructor that doesn't understand. If you don't go to the courthouse, the winter finals & will be the least of your worries. Good luck!!

I have to agree that you should have called much earlier. You more than likely would have been given a postponement. You should go to the courthouse anyway. When you get there ask them if they can give you another date. If not you may be able to take your test at a later date under the circumstances.
Man O man I wish you well.

You can try. The court is generally pretty forgiving if you have a reason and you make it up. It is too bad that you waited until now to do something about it -- I think that they would have been more generous with postponing it if you had told them in advance. Hopefully though, they will be cool and let you postpone.

Why did you wait until now to deal with this issue? You should have called in when you first got your paperwork to be a juror.

Call the Clerk of the court where you have to report tomorrow, first thing in the morning. Tell of your quandry and ask the clerk to ask the judge to excuse you until next jury term.

Good luck.

You were suppose to call for the postponement when you got the notice and saw it conflicted with your finals.
You maybe able to get it done tomorrow but you are taking a big risk slacking on that one until the 11th hour.
At this point all you have is luck to cruise on and hopefully next time you WON'T do that screw up again.
good luck !

You probably have a much better chance of taking make up exams than you do getting out of jury duty.

Good luck!

Perhaps you should make arrangements to postpone your finals. bring proof that you had jury duty to your professors. In fact. you should have done this already.

maybe u should've told your prof. ahead of time that u had jury duty on the day of exam and scheduled an earlier or later date to take the exams

No. They don't care what's going on in your life. You go to jury duty, or you go to jail.
