What is the meaning behind wearing a ring on your right ring finger (right hand) versus wearing it on your left ring finger (left hand)?

In the United States left ring is for someone who's married/engaged, right ring is just to wear a ring as a jewelry. It's different in different countries though. I'm from Ukraine and there, including Russia and many other countries in that region you wear the wedding ring on you right hand and if you're divorced you wear it on your left hand. So it depends on where you go.

I think that many people don't think of any differences, except, if you are married you would wear the ring on your left ring finger.
I believe that a promise ring would be worn on the left or right ring finger. But if you are just asking... many people just wear a ring on their right ring finger, because that is where it feels comfortable, without wearing it on your left ring finger and making it look as if you are married or engaged.

Well, when you wear a ring on your left hand ring finger it signifies that you are engaged or married. In the last couple of years the 'right hand' ring has come about just saying you can wear diamond rings on the right hand too and you don't have to be married.
