The three wise men were said lately to be astronomers. Astronomers during those times are rich people who can afford to spend time looking through the sky for signs they learned from writings and folklores. Being rich would entitle them somehow to be a king of their own tribe. One reason why they may been called Kings earlier was because of the expensive gifts (that normally kings can afford) at that period that they brought as gift to the child on a manger. To your question if they are psychics, it can be yes and no; however, people of the olden times are normally gifted with the ability to foresee the future by just merely looking at the sky or possess a strong gutfeel due to the limited schools of thoughts like we have in this present generation. So, most of the time then, they have been using intuitive knowledge rather than cognitive abilities.
And a big NO to your question if it is a sin to be psychic because that is one of the faculties of man in his brain that has not been tapped by many due materialistic way of knowing things. What will make it a sin may depend on how you use it. What man knows and possesses are not considered sin unless he used it for evil purposes. Just like a wicked man can only be condemmed and charged with sin if he does the wicked thing.

HI MADLYNN. No the wise men were not psychic. The Bible fortells the birth of Christ in the Old Testament, in Micah 5:2:

"But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel."

Matthew 2:2 tells us about the Wise men who were following the star of Bethlehem:

“Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”

King Herod, who wanted to kill Jesus, because Jesus was the true King of Israel, asked the wise men to send word when the found him but the wise men refused. In Matthew 2:9-12 God tells us:

"...and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. 11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
12 Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way."

Is it a sin to be psychic? Yes. Satan can give people dreams or visions, but God stopped sending Divine Revelation when he was finished writing the New Testament. (Revelations 22:18)

"So the king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers to tell him what he had dreamed" Daniel 2:2. Read the whole book of Daniel and you will know that being a psychic is not a gift from God. Psychics and all the others that I have mentioned here they are all the works of the Devil. God does not work with psychics and that is why they are never 100% let alone 5% correct, why? because the future belongs to God not to man. The future is revealed to you by God because he wants to do something in your life.

So is it sin to be psychic? Yes it is because if you are you do not trust in God but rather in your own understanding and it's a sin to not trust God with all your heart, mind, body and soul. Trust in God.

They weren't psychic. They are called wise in the Bible because they calculated from the prophecies in the Old Testament to find when the Christ child would be born. About psychics, some prophets had visions from God, like Josephs dream about the stars and the hay. Satan also has power in the world. Some psychics actually have the ability to tell the future, but there power comes from Satan. They reel you in to believing them to stray you away from God. Be cautious.

Hi, Madlynn!!!

The wise men, were that!!!! Wise men!!!

These men were considered, like kings, because they dedicated to study the stars!!!!

That's why they came to Bethlehem, even they were from different far away places; the were able to locate the "Star", that eventually took them to "BabyJesus".

And since they already knew that "The son of GOD" will be born around that time, they follow the "Star of Bethlehem" .

Being psychic is NOT a sin, we all have psychic abilities in us, that one develop better than others.

What is a "sin" as the Bible talks about is using this abilities, for "witchcraft", to confuse and direct people away from GOD. Anything that will take you away of GOD'S proximity, is a sin!!!

But if you use your psychic abilities to be closer to GOD, which in this case people like to reffer as meditation, (the state of being in sync with yourself and a higher bieng,GOD); then is NOT a sin as you are using this power with in to be closer to ones creator.

Have you heard of "dejavu", had dreams that then later become true or had a"funny feeling", or "premonition", or something about to be happenning???

All of this are psychic abilities, that we have as a natural
consequence of being ceated FROM GOD. And this abilities should be consider as precious gifts and they should be use, only to meditate, and elevate our conciousness, so we can communicate with GOD, through and with the help of HIS SON JESUS THE LORD and THE HOLY SPIRIT.

GOD BLESS YOU & AND PRAY, JESUS WILL LISTEN

A.Z.

I had to chime in in this one. large question. Its intense-high quality to work out something distinctive often times. I grew up in a psychic better half and childrens and at circumstances even a psychic community. Of each and all the psychics I even have time-venerated, possibly one or 2 ought to do what you're asking. generally i might trust Pangel, if somebody claims to have this variety of skill take you funds and run. particularly although, this variety of element is surprisingly unimpressive while in comparison with what they might do. Psychic skill is a lot like God (particularly you need to declare they are the comparable) in that there is not any info. the two require faith. human beings seem to forget approximately that faith IS theory with out info. in case you need to teach it, it defeats the objective of the excercise. Heaven is a physique of innovations Shane ok.

No, they were astronomers, who had seen some radically different configurations in the stars prior to Christ's birth....configurations that said to them : "a great king is to be born" and following these cosmic allignment a Nova flared up in the constellation "Aquila" which would have been like a bright star over the region Christ was born.........Psychics are almost always fake, especially if they accept money ....Please don't waste your time or money on "psychics"!!

they were magi. a magi was a studier of astrology, signs, and protents. as such, they would have been familiar with various prophecies of the middle eastern societies of the day, as well as the history of those cultures. they would have been able to put meaning into what they observed as they gazed at the stars. certain configurations would have special meaning, and since there was a major astronomical condition showing itself coming, they would have tried to act accordingly.
