I'm going to ask for sources to your answers since people always ask for sources to mine.. Also the fact that people like to base their facts, on their opinions.

That does not answer the question. They missed their quote for 2006... We've been in Iraq longer than that.

There was more troops before in my opinion. I hate to say this but the reason I say before was because people believed presidents bushes lies more than know. Some people are begginig to realize the real reason bush went to Iraq. Alot of hard core republicans will hate me for this but theres a real reason he went to Iraq. One Saddam tried to kill his father . Number two after 9-11 he was given a great opportunity to help Iraq people get rid of Saddam. Now come the clincher why did he really truly have are troops go to Iraq. Well if your a billionair and you own Oil Refinaries what not get some more free oil and use a war as an excuse to be there. What most people don't know is President Bush own oil refineries in Saudi Arabia, Alaska, Isreal, Texas, and other Arab countries. Each year the president is given 70 billion dollars from the Saudi Arabias president. Why do gas prices keep on rising well because we have to keep paying taxes for are troops to be in Iraq and for the president and the big oil companies to keep bringing the oil over here. And us Americans have to keep paying higher gas prices. I feel bad for the troops because there dying for the presidents oil. There are no weapons of mass -destructions, just an excuse so the president and oil companies can keep getting more billions. I am sorry if I offend any one. I would die for my country in a heart beat ,but not for bushes joke war. I have friends and family in the military . Once again I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I'm just saying are president is a liar. And people are suffering because of him. I have no sources to back my facts. The Fahrenheit 9/11 movie states that president bush owns oil refineries. I am intitled to freedom of speech , so anyone who reads this should not take offense. If you agree with me great, if not you don't have too.

Its difficult to find the sources you asked for.
But it is likely that the number of recriuts increased in the lead up to the start of the war in Afganistan. So, therefore it was before the Iraq war.

More people are joining the military now than before the war.
The Active Army End Strength was 505,000 up 12K from FY05
The highest since 1995.
The Reserve End Strength was 190,000 up 1K from FY05
The Army National Guard End Strength up 346,000 from 13K from FY05
2006 Army enlistment and reenlistment data:
The active Army recruited 80,635 active Soldiers, 101% of its goal, the most since 1997. 7,000 more recruits than in 2005.
The Army Reserve recruited 25,378 Soldiers in 2006, 99.5% of its goal of 25,500 . 6,000 more recruits than in 2005.
The Army National Guard recruited 69,042 Soldier 98.6% of its goal, the most since 1992. 18,800 more than in 2005.
67,410 Soldiers reenlisted in the army in 2006, 105% of the goal of 64,200.
18,243 Soldiers reenlisted in the Army Reserves in 2006, 103% of its goal of 17,712 .
41,152 Soldiers reenlisted in the Army National Guard in 2006, 118% of its goal.
Overall, 175,000 people enlisted in 2006, more than 32,000 more than 2005.
It doesn't sound like any recruitment problems to me.
And this was accomplished while the End Strength of the Army active, reserve and national guard were all increased

Far fewer are joining now, despite a greater effort to recruit more soldiers....
