1969, after the moon walk. I heard that all the astronauts where heavy coffee drinkers. For some reason (They did some research into why) the astronauts lack the enthusiasm to drink coffee in space. They have had more of craving for fresh fruit drinks, such as Orange Juice. Perhaps that why Tang was created.
