Means theyve started a gang matey.
There is a rhyme that reckons its something to do with silver so its not a bad thing.
If you see a lone magpie you have to say to it ;good morning mr magpie, hows your wife and children' -Course, there's loads of variations on that.
...that is of course if you meant magpies. Im not so sure what a mapie is.

I often have five magpies in my backyard. They are a family group.
Mum, Dad, and the kids.
She often feeds the kids, even though he can feed himself.
I count myself very privilaged to have these visitors.
One hops on my backstep and sings for me. Lovley.
