My parents and grandparents were born in USA, but great grandparents came from Ireland in 1880's to USA. People have told me that I may be qualify for dual (US and Ireland) citizenship. Is this true?

Only if at least one of your parents or grandparents had claimed their Irish Citizenship by registering in the Foreign Births Register before your birth. You can see all of the requirements for citizenship at the site below:

If you have the appropriate paperwork proving your lineage the likely hood is the Irish government would approve your request. However, the smart thing to do is send an application to the Irish Embassy and not this site. The Irish on this site think the sun rises in the east and sets in their *** They fail to forget only 40 years ago they were crying out for citizenship.

Nope. I'm not sure what Ireland's immigration rules are like but one of your parents has to have been born there to enable you to have dual citizenship.

No...if you give up your American citizenship, then you can apply for whatever country you want too, if the country allows it.
