There are things they do that we Americans don't.
Take for example, following things they do, do you?
Eat less. No bigger than half their palm size. Eat often, like 6 times a day. Active lifestyle. No junk food, no candy bar, no choco chip cookies etc.. it is just not kept in a home. Eat watermelon, cantaloupe, bananas and variety of fruits/vegs.
This is changing now as second generation Asians who are born in America. Sad to say, they eat KFC, McDonalds, FFries, etc.. It goes to show that our diet here is so profit oriented and it does not take the public's health into account. So, what the public to do? Take care of themselves of course.
Asians for several generations have stayed height to weight proportioned. Why all of a sudden they bulk up now in USA? And, they grow tall too. Women, with about 5'/90 lbs and men around 5.5'/120 lbs are about the norm. Now, it is all over the map.
It is very evident when you go travelling to Asia. Look around you. Things haven't changed much in their own country. They don't put all that much effort into staying healthy but they are generally healthy - you can tell from the glow on their face.

It's because food in here is really unhealthy, I think they tend to eat there foods from there culture. So they still stay more slim. My parents where from another country and they where healthy. Now they had gain weight. So I think American food is really unhealthy in my opinion. I eat rice all the time it really does not effect me as some diet plans say.
They also eat fish and vegetables which is a good thing.

I live in Bali and I can tell you that not all of them are slim. But it's true that many of them are, and I have a theory on this. I think that because for many generations Asian folks have been dieting on natural foods (rice, veggies, meat from cattle that is mostly fed organically) which are minus many of the additives and sodium filled trash us westerners eat, they're all bound to have developed pretty good genes.
It's actually interesting though how many Indonesians who frequent fast food joints on the island or those who have a penchant for western food are most often overweight...

If it is so, it is due to the hard work that they put in and enjoying less of the prosperity.
Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Further eat only when hungry. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span. No food or drink in between the food and not more than three meals a day, unless u r diabetic.

Many Asians continue to eat their native diet, which consists of a lot of rice, vegetables and fish. So they do not consume the high fat, high calorie American diet.
Staying slim is simple mathematics: Calories in must not exceed calories out. In other words, don't eat more than you need to go about your daily activities. Simple, but not necessarily easy.

Don't eat second helpings, leave off the sweets, and cut back on your carbohydrates. That is, leave off your potatoes and cut way back on bread. Get plenty of exercise. Try not to snack unless it is fruits and vegetables. Leave off your unhealthy snack especially at night before bedtime.

hmm i used to live in korea and i moved to america about 6 years ago and there are alot of reasons that come to mind
#1 the diet is much more healthier
american diet consists of lots of red meats, white bread, fried foods
asian diet consists of rice, lots of seafood or chicken, and mostley vegetables and we do not use alot of oils
#2 portion control
compare a mcdonald in america and korea
a regular meal at mcdonalds here is the size of a large meal in korea
#3 people walk more than they do here
although many people in asia have cars they tend to use subways and busses more than they use their cars..
here people drive to their neighbors house...
#4 being fat is looked down upon
in asia if you are fat people talk about you and people criticize you more than people in america
#5 living conditions can be harder in asia so people naturally lose weight due to stress...
hoped this explained a little bit ... ke ke ke....

the typical Asian diet is very healthy. each meal is balanced as it contains protein, carbs and fats.
I believe also that obesity brings shame upon the person and the family so it is looked down upon in the Asian culture.
