Photos are great.
Scrapbooks really cool also.
Someone else mentioned time – Wonderful!
I really like the dated Life Magazine idea – Thanks evenstar.

If it’s not too much try this. You can always delegate or pay someone else to do it.

Videotape family and friends talking about your grandparents. Include lessons learned, funny stories, tall tales, I remember when, how much you love them and appreciate them, etc. It does not have to be the highest quality. They will totally appreciate it and it is something that can last for generations.

If you have time do a scrap book and a video. Congratulations to your grandparents for 50 years together and you for caring.

Good luck regardless. And remember the greatest gift is love so don’t stress about it regardless of what you decide!!!

Make them a money tree with 50 golden Sacajawea dollars attached to the limbs. The 50th is the golden anniversary so this would be very appropriate. The dollars can be bought at any bank in the US.

I believe the 50th anniversary is the golden anniversary so you can give them something gold that they would both appreciate like a clock or an old picture of them, restored and framed in a nice gold frame.

Dear, the best you can do with your grand parents at this instant of time when they are at the DUSK of their live is to buy some helthcare policy/insurance for them.
I've suggested this because in old age there are only two problems from which our grand parents suffer:
1)By the ignorance of their children(means your parents) and their grnd children.
2)By their health and the fear that who will invest on their medical expenses.
So the best thing you can do is to get them insure in terms of their health and the rest is your love and concern that you can shower on them.Because at this age they only need your love every thing else is null for them. You are their world so try to give them the eternal happiness that they deserve.
Heartiest Congrats to a great pair for completing their 50 golden years together.

This makes no sense. You write: Don't give opinions on my notion about how nice it is but give meaningful answers. What? Rhetorical. How should we know what to give them? They're YOUR grandparents! And I have a flash for you. They are undoubtedly elderly and thus are not looking for "wild" gifts or the unusual.

My sister took a bunch of photos and had a dvd made from the courtship to the 50th. She had it set to the song "Fly me to the moon"which is their favorite song. As kids we used to see them dance to this alot and she gave copies to all of us so it was really special.

How about getting all their close friends and family to either write down their best memory of your grandparents, or film them saying their best memory on DVD.
That would mean a lot to them, and it's something they'll treasure for life. (Also makes a good family thing if you want to make copies for their kids)

I was going to say the same thing, except more specifically a scrapbook of their life...after my grandpa died, we made a dvd of his history in pics, and my grandmothers, and then by year through to us....if you could get your hands on some of their old photos, and set it to nice music, it really is amazing.

I would get them the TimeLife Classic Love Songs CD collection. Music is a great way to "go back." I got the set for my aunt and she loves it.
