I have been using Clairol Hydrience hair color in the shade of light brown (coco harbor). Lately it has been looking a little dark and I have been thinking of changing to dark blonde in this brand. I don't want a golden or reddish look. I want just a lighter shade of brown. Has anyone tried these two colors?

ask a colourist who can actually see your hair colour and skin tone to give you good advice. I wouldn't trust this question to a bunch of people on yahoo...

If you apply a lighter color to what you already have on your head, it probably won't work that well. The color will be perfect on your regrowth, but not on the mid shaft or ends. When you do your own color, do you apply the color from root to end right away? You need to stop doing this if you are. Whats happening is that you are depositing more and more pigment onto the already colored parts of your hair. If you want to stick with this color, I'd suggest applying the color to just your regrowth and leaving out the previously colored pieces. If you really want to go blond or lighter, I would seriously reccommend seeing a professional who can help you with this. Good luck.

I have used the dark ash blonde in the brand you mentioned but I had a light ash blonde to start with! You want it lighter than it is you need to switch to a lighter shade such as the medium ash blonde or dark champagne blonde! Or try some highlights with the color you have now- I love highlights!! Go to the Clariol web sight and see if they can help also! www.clariol.com!!

DON'T! You will be red. Dark blonde in a box is not good at all. I have really dark roots around my face (Natural blonde) and I wanted to lighten them. I tried the same color Dark blonde and it came out brassy orange yellow with lots of red. It was gross!

Go to Fantastic Sams and talk to a gal there about creating low lights with high lights. This way you have dark tones and light that will mesh together. =o)

Good Luck!

no but you can take the color that you are using now and when you mix it add shampoo to it shake it up and apply it will bring it up a couple shades lighter and have the same color only lighter i would say about two teaspoon shampoo then look at the difference in the color

i have 2 tips for you.......color on color gets darker.......thats why when you go to a salon and want the same color you have we only do the regrowth! and 2nd, the box color that you are buying isn't in untamperable packages, kids or just mean adults whatever can go through the aisle and switch colors out so you are never 100% positive you are getting the color that is supposed to be in the box. plus most over the counter hair colours contain an ingredient (metallic salts) that isn't good for your hair. my suggestion is if you like hair colour fork out a lil extra cash ad go to a professional, that why we're out there.
