don't judge a training session or routine by the amount of pain during training or DOMS that you may days feel after. training is judged over a period of time and by monitoring efficiency.

Muscles pain out when they r moved out of laziness. once they get used to the schedule they stop paining as they r by now stronger to handle the load put on them.

Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Further eat only when hungry. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span. No food or drink in between the food and not more than three meals a day, unless u r diabetic.

A bit of pain and discomfort could mean you're building muscle, and when you no longer feel it, it is good indication that you need to up your exercise. Just make sure that you're not doing mundane repetition, instead of prolonging it, maybe you should consider doing a different type of exercise routine that has heavier effect on the ab muscles.

You should not work your abs for longer than 20 mins.

It might be that you are not doing your crunches correctly and that is why you muscles are not sore. Although, if you are working them regularly, they will not always hurt. Once you start they will hurt because they have not been worked before, but when they become used to the work being done, they will not hurt as much or at all.
