The first thing that comes to mind when i see images like that is that it looks like something a million people have and a million more people will get. If he wants to get something showing faith, i suggest he do some soal searching to find something that will be a little more meaningful. Good Luck though...

Personally, I don't like it. Praying hands=religious aspect- whatever way you look at it. Crosses, Bibles, Jesus, ect.... all symbols of religion which say that you are not supposed to deface your body meaning no tattoos OR piercings to be honest. By getting a cross or praying hands, I think it's almost mocking to what the Bible says or they think that because it's religious, God will not look at the tattoo as defacing the body but more of a billboard for christianity. As for rappers getting these tattoos.... I think it's hypocritical for the above reason and because many rappers do not sing of anything God would approve of. This particular tattoo bothers me. Sorry I sound like such a tight a** but there's no other way to say it annnnd yet I'm not totally against tattoos. Haha I hope you could understand me.

I don't really pass judgment about tattoos or try to figure out what they mean anymore. Everyone gets tattoos for themselves and its not my place to invade that privacy, usually.

Most of the time, I just look at the quality of the ink and if I love it, I'll give em a compliment and be on my way. If it sucks, I hope they get a cover up and that's that.

As long as its well done it shouldn't matter. Oh, and I don't really think it was solely rap artists who popularized tattoos. You should try to be more open minded about it and respectful. Your bf is not trying to be a thug or gangster, and if he is, tell him to be who he is.

Edit: Now that I see that he just thinks it looks good, tell him he's an idiot and he should reconsider and get something meaningful to him. Tattoos that just 'look good' are quickly regretted.

Tattoos have personal meanings. I try not to judge by them. But normally if I see praying hands I think of the person as being religious or at least self respectful. The tattoos that I don't normally like unless it's in memory of someone is the lower back on a girl. Just because of how generic they are. Personal preference, I think it's a good idea if it means something to him.

to be perfectly honest, i don't think anything!
i have seen it on people before, but i never pass judgment.
i see too many people with tattoos to have time to think about every person's ink!
the last time i was at the tattoo parlor, i heard a guy talking to one of the artists about getting "Father Forgive Me."
now does that mean he has committed a crime? or maybe just something that is considered a sin in the bible? or was he just trying to give other people the impression that he is dangerous?
who knows!
some girls get butterflies just because they think its cute, while some get them to actually represent change, or rebirth!!
so i wouldn't really think anything.
my brothers and my sister have tattoos, and i still have never asked them why they got them or what they mean.
if it means something to them, that's all that matters!!

it isn't actually jesus's hands. search for the history. i am pretty sure it is based on a sculpture done a long time ago of the artists friend or whatever that had a debilitating disease that contorted and disfigured his hands. one night the artist saw the man laying in bed praying and his hands were together on his chest, pointed to god and they looked perfect and normal. the artist was inspired and sculpted what he saw. his translation was that all things are possible through god. which has carried over to the tattoo.

Even if your boyfriend isnt into religion, that'd be the first thing I'd think..Why else would someone want praying hands on them?

He wants them "just because he thinks it'll look good?" maybe he needs to put some more thought into a tattoo.

first of all i have alot of ink and I believe everyone should be able to express themselves how they want, but tattoos are meant to be an original form of expression! Why get what hundreds of other people already have? When I see the hands I usually think fashion victim! I'm sure there are heaps of people who have it and it means and represents something to them, fine but getting it just because it looks cool is a stupid stupid reason and most people will realise thats what the reason was. Tell him an original piece of work will be much more "cooler"

I think of mexican gangsters. Those are the only people I've ever seen with tattoo's of praying hands on them. They usually also have a large tattoo of jesus on a cross on their back, and there name written in huge letters across either their shoulderblades or small of back.

if he is going to get a tattoo...he should get something that means something him and that is somewhat original. Whats the point of having someone else's tattoo art copied onto your body...make it a twist on something he likes....or add something to it.
