You have to file your tax return whether or not you have taxable income. Generally, tax for teens (or other dependents) it is $10,000 of income. The amounts you need to declare come to you on forms 1099, or W2, or if you can be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return your earnings go on their tax forms.

If you're single and not the dependent of another taxpayer, you don't need to file if your only income is wages and you earned less than $8,450 for 2006. If you earned less you only need to file if income tax was withheld from your wages and you want that to be refunded.
