dr.dave- if the mother does not have hepatitis c (or any other disease) the baby will be uneffected. there is no such thing as fraternal infection regardling HCV. the maternal transmission rates of HCV to baby are about .06%. the actuality of that percentage lessens as the child reaches 3 years of age. so in reality, we are probably looking at a total rate of hcv infected babies to be around .03%. (probably slightly less)

not sure if it's old news, or if they have come up with new percentages, but if it's any consulation, I have two healthy teenagers and i have had hcv since the age of 8.(if not longer!)

as for dorothy getting tested, that will be as soon as you can see the doctor and explain your situation.

hugs,

some obgyns function the place they intend to establish the opportunity of early miscarriage is out of the question. this may be why your obgyn would not want to establish you till 10 weeks.

You can be tested tomorrow...unfortunately it would be difficult for the baby to be tested...but I do not know the rates of maternal-fetal transmission...but if you are positive, there is a chance that your baby might be...I would also ask to be tested for Hepatitis B, HIV, syphilus and be examined pelvically for other STD's that your BF may have acquired on his rounds...
good luck

You need to call your docs office and report all this info to his nurse in the morning. They will advise you what to do next.
