Its not that far at all. Train would be the cheapest (see the web site below, it will come in handy for train travel through out China). In your case, I recommend bus. Its a little more expensive but its quicker.

There are buses, which are over croweded but cheapest
taxies (both the normal one and the private ones - be weary of the private ones as they may try to charge you 5x as much as it should be)
and the train
the train is most convient, prices range from 30 RMB to 60 RMB. THere are a min. of five trains each way/day goign every few hours. it takes about a hour and a half, and it is really easy. The train goes from Beijing zhang (the main train station in central Beijing) to Tianjin zhang (main train station in Tianjin, just make sure you do not get off at xi Tianjin zhang - west station, watch for everyone else getting off teh train).

not that far, it might take you 3-4 hrs if the traffic is not that good. You should take the train because it's comfortable and they give you a bed if you want to pay 100 -200 yuan(Chinese money), but cheaper if you want seats on the train it's about 100 yuan per person or lower, I'm not sure what kind of train you want to take. To get a huge room with 2 beds with much decorations on the train, you'll have to pay at least 300 yuan. It's not that much when you turn it into US dollars or Canadian dollars. Train is the best way I believe. If you have more questions just email me about what you need to ask on transportation in China, I'm Chinese anyways!

the main person-friendly may well be automobiles and bicycles. There additionally are electric powered-powered motorcycles. For some distant factors the place taxis, buses and trains do no longer pass, there are motorcycles that may accommodate a million to 2 persons sitting at the back of the motive force. For long distance travels, there is buses, trains, boats, and planes.

Its about 100 miles maximum. If you can get hold of a car that's the quickest way - highway all the way, takes one and a half hours and costs no more than about 20 bucks. Alternately, take a train, costs no more than 25 bucks...I've done this trip many times so am not kidding you...

2 summers ago I took a overnight train from Beijing to Tianjin.
It's relatively comfortable and I don't remember it being very expensive at all. Maybe twenty to thirty dollars, though I could be wrong.
But if I were you, take the train.
