You might only get a provisional license at 16 and get your full license at 18. A provisional license will usually allow you to drive by yourself as long as you don't have more than a certain number of passengers and don't drive too late at night. It all depends on your state's laws.

If you are 16 or 17 years old you will get a "provisional" driver license ( contains some restrictions) From 18 years on you get an unrestricted license. Please see CVC 12814.6 (a) for a list of the restrictions on the provisional license.

last i heard you dont but that rumor has been going on for some years. but my cousins who are younger they can get their licenses but now are on probation for one year where they cant transport passsengers under 23 and drive after midnight or something and it used to be only the first six months.

Not taht I know of, I don't think you have to be 18 in any US state.
