I'll give you two based on our needs today.

First, genetic engineering for disease treatment. for example, genetically altering white blood cells to fight cancer.

Second, synthetic fuels to replace fossil fules.

I hope that either String theory will proved or not. Anyway scientist need to come up with the Theory of everything that can be verified.
I also hope that we will figure out conscious and will be able to simulate it on the computer. And of course cure for cancer. I strongly believe that we are very close.

I believe it will involve Biogenitic Engineering. People will be able to choose the DNA that they wish to pass on while blocking bad DNA such as Downs Syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy, heart disease.
