Somebody asked me this earlier. And I'd like to both A.) Capitalize on that thought and B.) Ask another question :)

The first thing that comes to mind is actually plagerizing on someone elses answer but if left me laughing to hard that i am going to have to repeat it, given the truth that was contained in the phrase. And that is "Have you ever seen people at the zoo throwing peanuts to the monkeys?...it's kinda the same thing here"...

I am in complete awe of when I ask the question..I know FOR SURE that I will be getting either A.) a scripture or B.) AN OPINION.

and i love seeing peoples opinions. i like to know how your mind thinks.

and no two christians can ever come up with the same answer. It never ceases to amaze me. I am in awe. I can ask the same question a different way and get 2 completley different answers from the same person....???

Now my question is why is it that atheists seem to know more about whats in the bible than xians do?

Because most of us atheists were once christians and when struggling with our beliefs we read the bible front to back over and over and studied it in depth. I've read the bible more during that time than anytime as a christian. And I understood more as an atheist than I did as a christian.

Sometimes, when we ask questions about a subject in a sarcastic like way, that we assume to feel we know a lot about, it is because we are enjoying the toying affect we think we are putting on someone. Kinda like a cat playing with it's prey before it kills it. There is a lot you can tell about a person like this. First, you notice their intent to ridicule someone who may not believe as they believe, Second, it is generally the other person who is wrong, Thirdly, they will make statements that indicate they, themselves have done a complete study, examined all the evidence, and come to the only true answer that is explainable. I have seen atheist give different answers and I have to wonder just how many atheist did it take for you to determine that they know more than Christians. Or is it simply that they tend to think more like you? I dislike questions on here that are asked to create anger or hatred whether it is from a religious person or an atheist. I'm a Christian but I don't have all my own answers much less everyone else's. However, I have never met an atheist with the answers either. Usually their answer has to be related to logic. So I guess at times, we're two sides trying to look smart, while at the same time, covering ourselves with ignorance.
By the way, cute avitar

If I ask five history professors what went wrong at the battle of Gettysburg, I will probably get a couple of different opinions about that also. Any time anyone is deciphering a book or writing thousands of years old there will be different interpretations. That is probably the reason there is so many different religions, and religious beliefs. If every Christian quoted the same exact answer to every question, I imagine there would only be one religion. Fair enough answer?
As for Atheists knowing the Bible, very few do. Most Christians, including me, do not know it well enough. But Atheists usually hear what they believe to be a contradiction in the Bible, or what they hear is a mistake and then repeat it over and over to each other. As do Christians if they think they found a scientific mistake or discovery that helps their point of view.
Now as for the remark about throwing peanuts, tell me honestly that the remark doesn't cover both sides of the isle here? Except to state, that we are are more likely to be feeding our cousins if you are an atheist, than if you are a theist.

"and no two christians can ever come up with the same answer."
Well, it is a fact that two people can read the very same sentence and come up with very different thoughts concerning it..and this goes not just for the bible, but all most any written word..
"Now my question is why is it that atheists seem to know more about whats in the bible than xians do?"......
I tend to disagree with that quote - people whom really believe do often read the bible and study it... Are you sure you are not meaning those who say they are Christians, yet are honestly only weekend believers? Everyone knows that those people are far more common than fulltime believers!!

I was forced to study the bible in order to waylay some of the more ludicrous questions the christians were asking here. Along the way, I discovered it was actually quite interesting. The bible as a book authored and translated by humans over the years has a very rich and interesting history. The bible as the infallible word of god doesn't hold up so well.

As Sheldon Cooper indicated, it relies upon up the context of the question and communique. If, as an social gathering, someone is making assumptions and drawing conclusions with having finished some interpreting and study first, then definite, human beings will likely refer the guy again to the source for extra interpreting. on the different hand, human beings might want to have very valid, valid questions, and human beings (who received't have an instant or sufficient answer) might want to bow out with a "study the Bible" quite admitting that they do no longer understand. we do no longer ought to understand the answer to each question that human beings arise with, and speaking the time to get again with the guy is totally all top. some human beings might want to delight themselves in asking "gotcha" questions that human beings can not answer on the fly, yet that does no longer mean that there are not any biblical solutions to those questions. you're fantastic in that we typically cite our substances. A source for religious solutions will be texts the position the position we are able to discover solutions to religious questions. even as the Bible does comprise historic previous, as an social gathering, it change into not in any respect meant be a source for historic previous (i.e., it change into no longer written to be a historic previous e book). interior of an identical way, you received't discover solutions to religious questions in technology or historic previous books. again, it does count number on the context. Peace be with you.

No 2 Christians have the same answer?
Well we all speak the same language and that's what counts.
This is a Christian prospective, and tell me what Christian would disagree with it?
If you read this maybe you will understand us a bit better.

..um imagine if there was a real God and all you needed was faith to commune with Him, He did every thing to show you He is here for you and that he loves you. He even comes to earth and takes on the forum of a man while still being omnipresent and died for you. All you had to do was to believe in Him, His love, repent from your sins, and walk in his ways keeping His statures all the days of your life. You did not do it. it was required of you.
Does this mean you go to Hell. NO NO NO!
It could mean that. you will be judged with no one to but your self to answer for all what you have done here on earth.
Jesus did not come here for the righteous as it is written.
But if you have sin any sin then you are unclean b4 God. This means you can not contaminate the Holy place or the Holy people, not even Moses was aloud to cross the river Jordan.
So who is with sin are unholy unclean. To become clean you need to have a redemption of your sins. An atonement.
This why Christian get such a bad rap,They know your eternal salvation is on the line. And they love you. And will try hard to get you to safety.

Can I comment on the first part of your question...

We like to discuss or argue our opinions on God and whaat the church(s) are doing because it gives us a sense of 'safety' - albeit misplaced. What I mean is that we feel "just-in-case" all those prophecies/warnings are right, we are not too far from some source of salvation.

This is why disgruntled church-goers (or avid readers) keep an eye on what's happening, what others are thinking, what's changing and what's staying the same. They claim they are free from a church, but still keep it at arms-reach.

I wouldn't be so quick to say that. I've seen some atheists post stuff on here that wasn't in the Bible at all.
But I do agree that half the Christians in America don't know the Bible from a hole in the ground. It has nothing to do with all Christians being stupid. It's just that there are a lot of lazy Christians.

Why? Because these people are always looking for an arguement. If you notice, they pick out the most difficult verse for us to explain, etc.

All they want is a reaction.

Keep in mind that even Satan knows the scriptures!
