Two things.. First, the second answer above is right... Pay attention to the 6-year old. I dated a man for awhile that I thought was a little quirky, but basically a good guy. When I introduced him to my kids, my outgoing 3-year old wouldn't even look at him and didn't want anything to do with him. She was right. He was bad news. So don't base your decisions on the 6-year old's feelings.. but you'd better listen to them!

Second... if you choose to proceed with the relationship, then leave them alone. Don't push their "bonding" There's nothing you can do to make two adults be friends... why would you think you can manipulate these two into bonding with one another.

I'd have second thoughts about getting engaged to someone who hasn't bonded with my son... He needs to take the initiative and find ways to spend time with your son, to communicate with him.

Your first responsibility is to your child, not yourself, and not anyone else.

maybe you should listen to your 6 year old. Children have a much better judge of character then any adult.
