Hey, interesting question. I don't think the Dalai Lama would like me as his PA. Whilst I do greatly respect him, I think that he has done enough "peaceful activism". I think there comes a time in one's life when your country and people are under threat and invasion to say enough is enough and call to arms. I would be too militant for him, even though I appreciate the fundamentals of his beliefs

Only if I am willing to give up almost all my personal time for the Peace of the world, serving others and Arrangement of appointments, letters, meetings etc.

I spoke to a PA of Lama Zopa ( also a great teacher and advocate of peace ) and he works almost 24 hours a day 7 days a week. He has to be constantly on standby, in case any devotees in need were to call and Lama Zopa himself hardly ever sleeps. Coz Buddhist masters say that there is no rest day for suffering beings, sufferings are not gonna say.. "oh its sunday, no suffering for you" and thus Lama Zopa spends most of his time chanting and praying for people...

I know that because once during a retreat at around 3am, his PA told me he had to be on standby for Lama coz a devotee called in and the devotees mother was very ill. Lama Zopa immediately, abandoned his plans to go to bed and started making preparations for a Puja ( Prayer Ceremony ) to pray for the health of that single devotee's mother. PA had to stay up and clean up after before resting. That was about 2 hours later

So... if Lama Zopa's assistant has such a busy time, I cannot even begin to imagine a Personal Assistant if HH The Dalai Lama, who has to be a Political Figure, a Religious Leader, a Personal COunsellor, a Teacher and to fulfill his own prayer commitments... I wonder how 24 hours is even enough for him

Peace and COmpassion comes with a lot of Joyful Sacrifice

Yes I would. I have tremendous respect for His Holiness and what he stands for. If I had the chance to be his PA for a year I would jump at it. It would mean time from my family but what I would gain from it in terms of insight and understanding would more than make up for the time away from them.

What does it pay?

Actually, I would love to meet the guy. But that would probably pull me away from my family, so no.
