KJV because it has stood the test of time and has many resources to check out the translators.

All English speaking readers should study the KJV. It came about by divine intervention.

It contains God's Spirit within the text.

Why is the King James verion of the Bible the correct one to study?

1) It was translated from the Textus Receptus,(received text) manuscripts.

2)The churches at the time accepted the KING James Version and declared it to be from the Textus Receptus and the true Word of God.

3)The Christians of the time stated that the manuscripts the King James Version was translated from were the correct manuscripts. Christians should avoid the supposition that is found in many study Bibles which states "not found in the most reliable manuscripts". There were millions of Christians that were willing to die (and did die for these manuscripts). Taht should take precedent over some manuscript found in a cave. Who should dtermine which manuscripts are the most reliable?

wow purchasing a bible and actually "choosing" to do so!

its not so much what bible is the most perfect, its understanding the truth from God, that makes more sense in learning how to be holy and righteous.
Any bible will teach faith, but not every pulpit interprets the same verse exactly the same way. Read some of my questions and answers and it will be very clear not every agreas on what true theology really means.
the kjv is what i use but it took some time to understand what the translators mean and why they used some terms and changed others. comparing the kjv to the NIV i found that there are disagreable interpretations.
Just keep faith and pray for guidance, i think this is the best way

King James. Cambridge publishes it, if that helps. All the "new translations" have been altered from the original. This is why so many people on here talk about the Bible having inconsistancies and contradicting itself.

The King James Life Application Bible is one of the best I've seen in the last 30 years. It has all the explanations, definitions and profiles right along side the Scriptures to make understanding easy.

Hello :)

I wouldn't recommend you start off with the King James Version, unless you like Old English.
Maybe you should try the Good News Bible.

I read the NIV so I'm not sure about all the other translations. To me, the NIV, because of its modern English, is easier to understand than the KJV. I believe they do make Bibles that have both translations in them, the NIV on one side and the KJV on the other.

One I don't recommend is the Message Bible *cringe*. It's more of a paraphrase than a translation. With all the modern English translations, which are easy to understand, I see NO reason for a paraphrase Bible.

my "OPINION"
there's is too much lost in translation from hebrew and greek to english not to mention the "alterations/misunderstandings" that are portrayed in current bibles as fact.
the same king james that transcribed the best selling version of the bible to date also gave us santa clause and the easter bunny.

i say learn greek and hebrew and read the actual gospels and scrolls (copies of the actual)

or go here for a semi-objective view on the english ones

There are many Bible versions.

I enjoy the New International Version, NIV. The link is below.

Additionally, it's important to have a good Theological reference, also listed below.

God Bless.

Stick with the original Hebrew wherever possible.

Interestingly enough, I worked in a bookstore once, and the most popular bibles were always the most simply written ones.
