Lord have mercy on your soul! Fridays is the worst but it should start getting heavy at 12 noon, so that's not as bad as after 04:00pm on a Friday. The 5 south is good but will get busy by the 55 near Orange County. You can try taking the 405 South to the 71 toll road which will cost you about 3.00USD but worth it because you bypass quite a bit of traffic. Either way you are a better man than I. Can't deal with traffic so I pay for the Amtrak. Good Luck!

There are plenty of passions to follow in San Diego and that hotelbye is the spot to begin discovers what San Diego has to offer. In the San Diego vacation you'll stage external of your comfort zone and you will discover new activities while you are here and you could just find that finding a fresh desire can be an experience in itself. One of the areas should see from San Diego is Balboa Park. This park has over a 1400 acre and here you can find traditional houses, numerous museums, gardens, and green space. The park was designed for the Panama California Exhibition of 1915-1916. The predominant structure is Spanish-Mexican fashion, reduced level buildings that merge with the natural surroundings. On the list of shows of the park will be the Botanical Gardens and lily pool, the Museum of Man, the Museum of Natural History, the San Diego Museum of Art, and the famous San Diego Zoo. Even though you never get into a creating the park is simply a beautiful place.

It's bad all day. Give yourself about 3hrs. Take the I-605 south to I-5.
There are now many lanes around Disneyland area. Use to be only 2-3 lanes during construction.
Another reason for Friday traffic... People used to go down to TJ for partying on Friday afternoons and come back on Sunday nights.

Around 12 shouldn't be too bad. Traffic is always bad on Fridays. Just give it up and deal with it :)

I would take the 5 south though since the 605 connects to it more easily rather than the 15. And i think the 15 is horrible (trafficwise)

IT IS HELL! If you have someone with you, you can take the HOV lane (carpool lane) once you get on I-5. From Whittier, take the 605 south to the south 5. If you follow the 5, you will end up in downtown SD near the museum.

Make sure you leave at 12:00 or you could hit three rush hours (LA, OC and SD). Take the san juaqun hills toll road (sr-73) that will save you alot to grief and is worth the few extra bucks. Plan on being in the car for about three hours anyway

Everyone says the 5 is bad, but give no mention to the 15. Its a little ways out, but you'll avoid the LA-Orange traffic. Take the 60E to the 71S to the 91E to 15S

Oh my. I'm so sorry. Please purchase a book on CD or something to listen to - Friday traffic is terrible. I have not done it myself, but I have heard that the 5 south is particulary bad on Friday afternoons.... you will prob miss the worst of it if you leave at 12 noon, but try to leave even earlier if you can. Good luck!

Take the Amtrak, if it isn't sold out already. The 405 between Westwood and the 605 will be jammed all the way until past 7.
