I know girls that went into the military and they had to cut thier hair so that it wasn't touching the collar. They had to do it for boot camp, but then they were able to let it grow back out. A bob hair cut would be the easiest to grow back out. You should check with the recruiter to find out if they still make the girls cut their hair though.

I'm sorry, but the above answers are wrong. It's true, the Army, Air Force, and Marines do not require female recruits to cut their hair, as long as it's kept up neatly in a bun. However, the Navy is the only service that requires female recruits to cut their hair above the collar for boot camp.

I am a former Sailor. Before you would ship out to Great Lakes, I would recommend cutting it to just above the collar. If you let them cut it, you will end up with a really bad haircut. Also, some recruits have to get perms that are not very flattering while at boot.

You should cut your hair, above the collar, before you leave for boot camp. And, sell your hair at: http://hairbuyer.com

down to the shoulders or in a bun, if any hair falls out then they'll make you chop it down. also, no ponytails, curls, anything like that, just the bun

As long as you keep it in a neat bun, you can have it as long as you want. You just can't wear it down. If it is worn down, I think it can only be to your shoulder or shorter.
