A more interesting question is, Why do Jews pick and choose which Mosaic laws they are and aren't supposed to obey?

Good question. I'm a Christian that just tries to love my neighbor and forgive my enemies and not judge. Seems more important than mosaic laws and Jesus says if we do this we will keep the law.

Well read your Bible. The mosaic laws were given to the Jews.
We the gentiles were given the laws that were handed down from Noah.
remember the first commandment? it was be fruitful and multiply.
the Jews have 10 commandments and over 600 laws.
We never were under those laws. We according to some scholars had only 7 laws . The 7 laws of Noah.
May i just say this here at this point

Why do we Christians seem so eager to have you convert?
..um imagine if there was a real God and all you needed was faith to commune with Him, He did every thing to show you He is here for you and that he loves you. He even comes to earth and takes on the forum of a man while still being omnipresent and died for you. All you had to do was to believe in Him, His love, repent from your sins, and walk in his ways keeping His statures all the days of your life. You did not do it. it was required of you.
Does this mean you go to Hell. NO NO NO!
It could mean that. you will be judged with no one to but your self to answer for all what you have done here on earth.
Jesus did not come here for the righteous as it is written.
But if you have sin any sin then you are unclean b4 God. This means you can not contaminate the Holy place or the Holy people, not even Moses was aloud to cross the river Jordan.
So who is with sin are unholy unclean. To become clean you need to have a redemption of your sins. An atonement.
This why Christian get such a bad rap,They know your eternal salvation is on the line. And they love you. And will try hard to get you to safety.

Dear James, We do not "pick and choose", there are Laws that were meant for the isrealites at that time and in that context, which were phased out. The leveticus Laws about animal sacrifces, were given to the isrealites and theyu no Longer apply, they arent absolute. You come to this conclusion by reading the Bible in context. it is clear, the only Law originally given that has absolute status is the Moral law (Ten Commandments). The problem is that skeptics ( I was one myself, so I know) read the BIble not to learn, but rather to seek and find contradictions. therefore, they find a verse or two, take it completely out of context. I would suggest you read the whole Old testament, from the beggingin of the Mosaic Laws, all the way to the end (giving of the Messiah Yshua).
God Bless

The Mosaic Laws were actually written for the Jewish People. The New Testament Laws were written for Christians. I am sorry that you didn't understand that. I am a Christian. Have a great day.

Hmm...generalize much? These Christians you speak of aren't really Christians if they're picking apart rules & laws and only following the ones they want. I know exactly what you're getting at but not all are like that.
The ones that pick & choose are running on a whole other belief system that has nothing to do with God or Christianity.

God’s Law, the Ten Commandments, are God’s measuring stick. Contrary to popular Christian opinion, they will never go away. Various denominations may claim the Law was nailed to the cross, but Jesus never said anything of the sort, and neither does the Bible, if carefully and prayefully examined
It is true that a group of laws no longer applies. Once Jesus died on the cross, much of the old ceremonial and rabbinic law did not make sense anymore - it had been tied to the sacrificial system, which was meant to point to Jesus. When He sacrificed Himself, He was the ultimate sacrifice, and sufficed for ever. This meant the end of animal sacrifices at the Jewish temple, and the end of any laws or religious instructions tied to the sacrificial system.
But the Ten Commandments were written down by God’s hand on stone and given to Moses, and were from the start completely separate from the sacrificial system. There is no mention of sacrifices in the Ten Commandments, or of an end to them because of Jesus’ sacrifice. They are not only God’s measuring stick, but they are our moral and religious mirror. They tell us when we’re doing something wrong.
I'm asking a legitimate question concerning a group that seeks to immerse itself in Hebraic culture. The Tribes do not recognize the end of Jewish ceremonial law for Gentile converts "Pentecost"), so why do they recognize the end of Mosaic moral law?
To accept the law is to deny Jesus. From the Christian view the Law left Jesus nailed to a tree and, according to Deuteronomy, "cursed by God". To accept the Law is to accept that Jesus was cursed by God. Therefore, one of the other has to be rejected - Either the Law or the the belief that Jesus was nailed to a tree. You can't have both. If the law is corrupt then the Messiah came to free us from it and there is redemption.
Jesus is very distinct when it comes to validating the Law, and pronouncing the punishment for those who teach others to ignore God's commandments.
"For verily I say unto you, Til heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven..." (The Authorized Version of King James: Matthew 5:18-19)
In truth, the way of our salvation is through the law, and in the words of scripture which men consider 'holy', those things on which we will be judged are of the law. Does not James, Jesus' brother, agree with this logic?
"Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith... Do you want to be shown, you shallow man, that faith apart from works is barren?... You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone... For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so faith apart from works is dead."
"Then I saw a great white throne and him who sat upon it; and from his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, and by what they had done... Death and Hades gave up the dead in them, and all were judged by what they had done." (The New Testament: Revised Standard Version: Revelation 20:11-14)
"Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense, to pay every one for what he has done." (The New Testament: Revised Standard Version: Revelations 22:12)
Therefore I remark that if the law gives us a knowledge and understanding of the Christ, then how can the law be denied? To deny the law is to deny Jesus. And if the Living Christ comes to us through the law, who is to be our salvation, then how can the law be corrupt? For if the law is corrupt, so is Messiah, and there is no redemption.
Paul had several major impacts on the nature of the Christian religion. First was the concept that the death and resurrection of Jesus superseded the value of the Mosaic Law, a belief that is often expressed as "Jesus died for our sins." It is unclear how much of this idea is original to Paul;
Jesus himself had little use for Mosaic law other than the obligation to fullfill it. He spoke out against parts of it, never cited or preached the entire Ten Commandments, and the only person he instructed to follow them he afterwards told his Disciples would not enter heaven.
Was Christianity made only for Jews?.Jews were a minority in a predominantly Gentile country.
Why didn't he resurrected in front of Pilate but only Jews. You never see Jesus preaching to Gentiles.According to you,the Jews understood that death was the divinely required outcome for sin and that sin was the transgression of the Law. If sin is the transgression of the Law, then how were the Gentiles sinning given the fact that they had not received a Law from God? And having not received a Law as the Jews had, why were the Gentiles condemned by God to die? Are some Anglicans doing the right thing in only preaching to Jews?.When it was the mission of Jesus to correct Judaism, what right do missionaries have to convert the world? The reason is simple JESUS WAS A JEW .Paul in his hatred of Jews made it an antisemitic religion.
The Mosaic Laws were actually written for the Jewish People. The New Testament Laws were written for Christians.
Ima christian, however I strive daily to do better, for I mess up, Have I followed all the laws and obeyd all the time , NO

That's not a bad question. Let's see, you've got health laws such as don't eat swine, sacrificial laws that tell you how to offer animals, governmental laws like an eye for an eye, and moral laws like do not covet. We are not a theocracy, so people can keep their eyes, and the sacrifices were ultimatly satisfied 2000 years ago. I guess I'd have to hang onto the ten commandments as God's moral ideal and the health laws, too, because our anatomy has not changed that much.

We don't pick and choose. Christ coming did away with all those 613 laws. The only laws of the Old Covenant we need to follow are the Ten Commandments, and all the direct and indirect commandments Christ gave us to follow.

We don't have to follow all of the mosaic laws. They were for the Jews. The covenant that God made with the Jews was superseded by Jesus' new and everlasting covenant. There are 613 Mitzvot (commandments) in the Jewish holy books, many of them were just for the Jews, and didn't carry over to Christianity. Get your facts right before you start accusing us of things. Are you Jewish? If not, why do you care what we do? What business is it of yours? Have you never broken a single one of the rules of your own belief/morality system?
