The Australian Government is giving $4000 for each baby born in Australia after July 2006. July 2008 it will go up to $5000.
I want to know;
1. If other countrys have the same once off payout
2. What do u think of it.

i think the $4000 that is given to new parents under the age of 25, should be paid to them over the course of a year and not in a lump sum. i know a few peolpe under the age of 25 that are having babies cause they want to go on shopping sprees.
other countries do it this way and it seems only the people that really want children are then having them!

USA gives tax credit of $1000 per child up to two then $500 everyone after that and u get a credit if u have a baby born in that year.

Other countries do this. But you have to realize how little these people earn to begin with. Life isn't all that grand.

I think they need to consider how the money is paid, it is enticing young people who think that the money is a huge amount and easy to get hold of. I think it needs to be carefully scrutinised how it is spent.

I know that in Sweden they pay moms to stay home for a year with their kids. Wouldn't it be nice......

germany is doing that right now because they have had a birth decline lately. wish i got paid.

They should pay people twice that NOT to have kids. Isn't 6 billion people enough???
