I live in east central Florida, directly to the west of me is the Atlantic Coastal Ridge, the old Florida shoreline. This is high, dry, sandy habitat with plenty of pine trees. Gopher tortoises, eastern indigo snakes, diamondback rattlesnakes, bobcats and many other species call this habitat home. Directly to the east is the Indian River Lagoon, the most diverse estuary system in North America. We have some of the best fishing in the country here, red and black drum, tarpon, snook, etc. etc. There are also manatees, atlantic bottlenose dolphins, occasional sharks, sea turtles, and alligators. East of that is the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, the most diverse wildlife refuge in the US. Home to at least 21 different endangered and threatened species.
I love my ecosystem.

i live in Canada,British Columbia, Vancouver Island. My house is located a mile away from a town of about 5000. the Comox Valley itself has about 50,000 two legged creatures. Im situated at a base of a mountain across the road is a swamp that has beavers living in it along with fish, frogs, and a sortment of birds. bald headed eagles, ducks, canadian geese, swans, owls, woodpeckers, humingbirds and a pile of littler birds. There are cougers, bears, deer and wolves, racoons, squirrels. There is a glacier fed large lake a mile down the road which is a dead end. Between the lake and my house there is a creek. the forest around here consists of mainly of red cedar, fir, maple, alder. varies types of ferns, salal, oregon berry, huckle berry, lots of black berries and broom where they have logged. we have lots of mosquitos bees flys spiders wood bugs, centipeede, millipeede, snakes, bats, salamander, and a bunch of weird looking bugs that were not here when i was a kid. The lucky thing is that our bugs here dont have enough poison in them to kill us. the Comox Valley is very unique. just in a couple of hours you can be on one of the many beaches we have and the next thing you know you can be on top of a mountian in the Beaufort Range we have spawning rivers for salmon, you could even go kayaking down the river. We also have many little unique islands. One of them is a 10 minute ferry ride away and it has its own eco system it is very unique it is called Hornby Island. I must admit i think we live in paradise here im very gratefull and thankfull that i live in such a lush beutifull place. we also have some species of sharks, seals, whales, porpoises, a pile of sea life that i couldnt name them all the odd time we will have some nasty sharks come up from the south following warm water currents they have been spotted off of Hornby and Denman Island. which so happens to have a large beutifull sandy bay beach area that the water is gorgeous it is a truley unique place. It is called Tribune Bay

I live in a cubicle ecosystem.
I wake up and go to my cubicle. The air is stale, usualkly drafty and the few plants there die slowly....like me. It smells of my farts and stale coffee cups and the computer is dusty.
