There is no such thing as a perfect relationship--with anyone. Know yourself; be yourself. Do not try to get someone to love you and do not try to please someone--this type of behavior is not connected to reality and you'll end up resenting the person. You will also end up betraying your true self.
In any relationship, there will always be situations in which you will have to compromise. Always try to see the other person's point of view and how they may feel. Disagree in a constructive and fair manner; avoid being hostile/negative. Concentrate on the positive attributes of the person and not any flaws. You do not have to agree with someone's opinion but do respect it. Try not to be judgmental. Always keep the lines of communication open. Think before you speak and possibly say something hurtful as this is often challenging to repair. With that said, learn to be forgiving.
AND the "falling in love" phase is that first, often extremely strong rush of chemistry/attraction/lust. That can be truly wonderful--just beware that this is not really love. True love is quite deep and unconditional--and involves accepting a person with all of their qualities--both the positive and negative ones.
Most "love" is ordinary love--one's ego/needs/fears are underlying and driving the relationship. True unconditional love is very rare. It embodies a special, spiritual (not religious) quality and requires great maturity and development.

There is never a "perfect" relationship, but in order to have a good, strong one, honesty, trust, and communication are the 3 main ingredients, because without any of these there really isn't anything. It just takes time, and some work.
