Do you have the faintest inkling how repugnant such a worldview is to anyone with a shred of genuine humanity?

..um imagine if there was a real God and all you needed was faith to commune with Him, He did every thing to show you He is here for you and that he loves you. He even comes to earth and takes on the forum of a man while still being omnipresent and died for you. All you had to do was to believe in Him, His love, repent from your sins, and walk in his ways keeping His statures all the days of your life. You did not do it. it was required of you.
Does this mean you go to Hell. NO NO NO!
It could mean that. you will be judged with no one to but your self to answer for all what you have done here on earth.
Jesus did not come here for the righteous as it is written.
But if you have sin any sin then you are unclean b4 God. This means you can not contaminate the Holy place or the Holy people, not even Moses was aloud to cross the river Jordan.
So who is with sin are unholy unclean. To become clean you need to have a redemption of your sins. An atonement.
This why Christian get such a bad rap,They know your eternal salvation is on the line. And they love you. And will try hard to get you to safety.

Yes, but that isn't the reason why you should choose God as your Savior. God is holy and cannot adhere to sin and that is His reason for such severe punishment. Life before sin entered this earth was better than anything we could ever imagine and it will be again when Jesus relinquishes Satan and all who follow him.

God Bless You

If you believe you have a soul, then your soul goes somewhere when your body dies. I've never been dead (believe it or not) so nobody really knows what Hell is like. Christianity teaches something about what heaven is like - endless peace and joy. Throughout the Bible it talks about Hell in terms of fire - don't know if it's imagry or literal. Bottom line, I'd opt for endless joy and peace over anything else out there.

Why not think about what you get if you can believe? It's not meant to be coersion - the promise of eternal life sounds pretty good to me.

Actually, as a genuine Christian convert, I have to agree with you. Now, I belive Hell is a very real place, and God hates lying and stealing and blapshmey and adultery ect (breaking of ten Commandments). And I do affirm, that the place of punishmet for those who have broken Gods Law is Hell. But the fact of Hell and the fear of going there should not be what motivates us to trust in Jesus. What should Motivate us? Think about all the sins, you have comited, all the times you have lied, stolen ect....... then think about a Kind and gracious God dying on the cross despite your unbelife, that should break your heart. In other words, the right attidute and motivation isnt fear, but rather should be gratitude toward God for his mercy. There are many who become false converts (we call them fear filled converts) who simply wanted the ticket out of hell, they were reacting to fear. the Problem with this, is that there is no repentace, no gratitude and genuine remorse for sin. Hell, again, is very real, But I would like for you to think about your sins and a gracious God dying for you, for al the times you lied and stolen and broke his Law, and repent (turn from sin) and trust in Jesus in a motivation from gratitude. he does promise everlasting life and forgiveness, which I myself who was an avid skeptic have recieved from Christ.
God Bless

I would never have been born again myself listening to that. In the bible it compares believers to a bride and if some guy said marry me or I will kill you and torture you forever I'd say hit the road buddy before I call the sherriff. I love the Lord because He first loved me.

Nope wrong, no torture and not forever.

HELL IN KJV
One Hebrew word “sheol” is rendered hell. Definition; hades or the world of the dead (as if a subterranian retreat), grave, hell, pit. Three Greek words are rendered hell; geenna, hades, and tartaroo. Definition of geenna; a valley of Jerusalem, used (figuratively) as a name for the place (or state) of everlasting punishment: - hell. Definition of hades; properly unseen, that is, “Hades” or the place (state) of departed souls: - grave, hell. Definition of tartaroo; (the deepest abyss of Hades); to incarcerate in eternal torment: - cast down to hell. Tartaroo is used only one place II Pet.2:4.
Christ teaching the Pharisees in Luke 16:19-31 shows us a separation from God is truly what hell is. The “water” is symbolic for God’s Spirit and love. The word “tormented” means distressed in the Greek, not torture. The “fire” is symbolic for the shame and desire not to be separated from God.
So all who die the first death of the flesh return to God Ecc.12:6-7, but on which side of the gulf do they end up?
Hell is not eternal but is done away with in Rev.20:14-15, called both the second death and lake of fire. This second death is non-existence, for death and hell and those not written in the book of life. This second death or lake of fire is like fat drippings that fall into the fire. Just a poof of smoke into non-existence.
Psa.37:20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
In my mind what’s worse yet is no memory of you, no tears will be shed for you like you never existed.
Rev.21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
So hell is a separation from God and is not eternal torture or burning. Eventually hell will be done away with or passed away and also some souls. Like fat drippings in the fire, a poof of smoke into non-existence, the second death.

2 things to consider:
1 - don't believe any God that threatens to torture you forever;
2 - if you are referring to the 'Christian' God of the bible, then there is no threat to torture you forever.

It appears you have been listening to a false representative of God, and base your opinions on hear-say, rather than truth.

Unfortunately. so do millions of other people.

Congratulations! You have finally understood the foolish, offensive, scandalous, ridiculous, bizarre, absurd nature of the message of the Cross that God used to save those who believe.

God has no need to respect your 'genuine humanity'.

First do you suppose God cares about your view on "Humanity"
What is the that causes the supposition that God should act, think, feel, or behave in a manner that you want or think he should? Just think, a God that first checks with humans to see if they like his rules! Be handy now wouldn't it?

you are threatening yourself, God is offering you a gift that we did not deserve. Jesus Christ died for us friend, I am glad I didnt have to pay for my sins like that because even if I did go through what he did it is still not acceptable because God will only accept a perfect sacrifice for sin. wont you accept him today friend we need a savior.
