get some lice treatment from you chemist. if you dont want to do this, try this method:

put conditioner on her hair and work it through. this stuns the lice. with a fine tooth comb, methodically go through her hair and pick out the lice. you may need to do this for a number of days. also, all linen and bedding needs to be thoroughly washed.

Get a "Licemeister" comb (www.headlice.org). It's expensive--$10 for the comb and $7 for shipping, last time I bought one. But it's effective. Walgreen's used to carry it; I don't know where you can buy it over the counter now.

You can also use it often as a preventative so that, next time you're exposed, you can get the little monsters out before you even know you have them! You can't do that with the shampoos, which are toxic. Lice also can't build up resistance to the comb!

Get a bowl of warm water and a little soap in it. Also, get a toothbrush (don't use it on your teeth afterwards!). After you comb, brush anything off the comb with the toothbrush into the water. Do that every day for at least a week. Sometimes I miss one or two, and I think the newly-hatched lice are small enough to slip through even these teeth.

Don't confuse the Licemeister with the combs that come with the shampoos. It would be like comparing a race car to a go-cart! Expensive though it is, it's worth it.

hey there, the best thing I found was mayonnaise and it's good for the hair and much cheaper than the lice shampoo but you will still need a lice comb and lots of patience to comb it all out. look up lice and mayonnaise on the net and it will give you all the precautions.......as in don't let her eat the mayo from her head as mayo goes bad after being exposed to air for a while, if that does not work get a solution called full marks, it's gentler that most shampoos and has a comb in the box, good luck and tell you're sister it will all be OK.

There are medicated shampoos that will solve that. But everyone in your household should wash their heads with lice shampoo, not just your sister to ensure lice will be totally eradicated.

Cover her entire head with mayonnaise, let it sit for one hour, then shampoo out, this is not a joke, the mayonnaise is thick and it "suffocates" the lice. I am a nurse, and I heard this from another nurse at my workplace.
