They have eletrical impulses that are supposed to tone and trim your midsection and love handles. Do they actually work?

Actually they can help a little bit if you let the electric pulse be your coach and crunch the abdominal muscles each time you feel the impulse. Just don't expect the belt to do the exercise for you. (Pardon me for not having a long resume like the other guy).

not one bit. keeping your abdominals tight (like you are trying to impress someone on the beach, etc.) does the same thing and it's free

I used to work with a guy and his wife was a nurse - she said they don't, its just a gimmick to get you buy them...
