I am from the south(atl) And i am in arizona on business and everyone seems like they are scared of black people and i been here for like a month.Whats the deal?

I've never been to Arizona, so I am wondering if there are a lot of black people. If not, it may be because they just aren't used to seeing black people and have some misplaced sterotypes or fear. It doesn't mean they are racist or anything, but I think that we as white people can be afraid of offending black people. I also think the media tends to play up things like gang violence and pushes the idea that gangs are mostly made up of black people (which I don't think is true). And that makes some people feel like if we offend the wrong black person we can get shot or something. And really that is all stupid, because there are good white people and black people and bad people in both races. We're all just people. But when the media and things push stereotypes like that it just keeps the race topic on people's minds. I'd like to add too that from your pic you look like a big, strong guy, so maybe people just don't want to make you mad. ;-)

you should come to west virginia then... everyone here thinks they'll get shot or raped if they look at a black guy. Because there aren't many black people here, and they only know what they see on the news or just TV in general... stupid media.

thats weird...i went to the arizona airport before and it feels like they were ALL looking at me...it was scary :( [no offense to anyone who lives in arizona]... but anyways just wanted to let u know you're not alonee :)

I think that everyone there is strange in there own way...... I am not sure what part of AZ your in but if your looking for more "normal" people go to Tempe ...good college town they like everyone...... good luck!

who really knows i date a black man and when my peeps from arizona came to ky to visit they where scared i honestly think its the lack of communication they see a black man and automatically think he is a thug dont let them get to you be who you be and let it do what it do
