I make mine without a recipe, but I can tell you how I do it. If I'm making less then 4 pieces, I only use one egg, anything over requires more eggs. I mix the egg with a little milk, or butter milk, just enough to mix it up and have it look like scrambled eggs, then I add a little dash of cinnamon. Mix that with the egg mixture. I don't usually use vanilla in mine, but I'm sure that would be good. I really like to use either french bread or sourdough. They are really good for french toast!! Dredge the bread through the egg mixture and place on a griddle set on around 350 degrees. Cook until side is golden brown, then flip and cook on other side until brown. I like mine with either butter and powder sugar, or with strawberry syrup. It's really good with fresh strawberries, mixed with a strawberry glaze and a little whipped cream too.

The way we made french toast was to lay out the bread the nite before and let it get a little stale or slightly dried out. Depending on how many pieces or toast ya want what we did was to beat 3 eggs for about 6 or 7 pieces of toast and never added anything else to the mix.Soak the bread in the eggs on both sides. Just long enough to make the bread soggy. Then in about a 1/2 in of oil in a skillet and with the oil hot ,drop in 2 or 3 pieces of bread, depending on how big the skillet is . Fry each side to a golden and slightly brown color and dip it in powdered sugar to coat it. Add a dollop of butter or margarine and pour on maple syrup. We heated the syrup up too as a way to help melt the butter. We could cook up 10-12 pieces of french toast in about 10 -15 min. As for the spice I suggest you serve it wearing a "teddy" or nothing at all!!!!! YOUSA WOWSA !!!!!
