I would say, in this instance it would seem improper if it is not their prom. But, this depends on where you are in your relationship.

Basically the way I see it is if they were invited to your prom, then you are the host and should pay. If they invited you to their prom, then they would be the host and should pay.

Again, though, this depends on how well you know the person. An equal half and half arrangement could work too!

Did you ask him to go with you? If there are other couples going with you, then I say all of you should split the cost. If it is just the two of you then I would talk to him and then decide. Maybe you can split it, but if it is only you that really wants the limo and whatnot then I think you should pay for it. The same goes for the hotel room.

If it is your prom, you are expected to pay...even if you are the girl.

Now, if you are close with your date, you can talk about maybe splitting the cost if you are comfortable doing that.

I remember what all this was like in HS...start saving...prom is expensive!!

Have fun

No. If you asked them to attend the prom with you, you pay, unless you've come to a mutual agreement about it and they WANT to contribute toward the costs of it all.

My personal feeling is that the person who asked the other person out should be willing to pay for the date.
And please do not have sex on your prom night. That should only be for married husbands and wives.

I think not only is it in poor taste, but also reflects the level of your cheapness. Cheapness on all kinds of levels. Like Dr. Phil would say "What is wrong with you?"

Sounds like a great way to guarantee that you don't get a second date.
