depends on what the guy is going to do after either of you are shot. If the guy intends to torture or do something worse to your lover, have them shot first so they wouldn't have to endure that kind of pain. However, if he then lets you go and goes off, you'll be ridden with guilt that your lover was needlessly killed.

I'd choose to be shot to death myself. But then again, he's a mad man and might shoot my partner after shooting me. You can't trust anyone these days.

my lover so that he would not have to suffer and endure the pains and nightmares that come along with losing your lover and watching them die before your eyes. its a horrid experience.
