Do you find that he comes in handy for explaining everything you don't know anything about (abiogenesis, evolution, etc.) or for dealing with fear (of death), or is he just a substitute father who protects you and fights your battles for you?
I'm just trying to figure out if your God is a sort of convenient "filler", or a security blanket, or your imaginary daddy in the sky. It's in the way you talk, like, "You're gonna wish you never said that when Jesus comes" ("wait til your father gets home")
Do you guys have real fathers, or do religious leaders (mostly men) and God (male) and Jesus (male) just fill in?

God for me basically functions as the quantum vacuum or zero point field, in which the propagation and interference of superluminal torsion waves encodes the entire past of the universe and makes it available holographically to human minds. At least, that was the way I thought of God the last time I ate shrooms.

My God is not very convenient at all. He requires that I forgive to be forgiven and right this minute I am praying that He will change my will and make me willing to forgive someone. It would be convenient for me if He would just let me hate in peace.
I have a father as a matter of fact I love him and am grateful that God made me his kid. As to wait until Jesus returns. I am in no position to judge as God says He reserves that for Himself as He judges our hearts and not necessarily our actions but why we do it.
No I am not afraid of death. No sense in being afraid as we are all born dying.

I think we're talking about the One True Universal God of one tiny little petri dish of biological activity in a vast Universe.

Nowhere near convenient enough. I need God in six-pack with a little handle on top.

Every time I call on Him, think about Him, or call His Name, my God is always there with me. He wrote me a love letter called The Holy Bible in which all my questions are answered and His Spirit directs me and helps me to locate the answers in His Book. I speak with Him several times all day long and every day too. I have a relationship with Him that is a intimate, passionate , and full of joy and peace. Every day I know my God is a better day than before. PEACE!!!
Yes...I have a very good and loving earthly father who raised me all my life. PEACE!!!

God is NOT supposed to be 'convenient'. And if anyone tries to sell Him to you as an insurance policy or a super vending machine, they are LYING to you. If Christians gave the real Gospel of Christ, they would get nothing but ridicule and scorn. Human pride cannot stand the idea that God chooses whom He will, and there's nothing you or I can do about it.

LOL... for every "easy answer" I get, i find a dozen hard questions. As for the whole father thing, he is also very spiritual, more so than most pastors that I know, but in general the spiritual leaders and the like serve more as brothers and friends than fathers.
oh by the way just so you know, I hate to tell you this but... your ignorance is showing.

They're all convenient, gods & goddesses, angels and demons. It's funny how someone who prays to an an invisble goddess or a pointy horned devil in the ground thinks it's less superstious than a beared old man in the sky.

My friend if you have so many questions and doubts from what others say, that is what you are still doing is asking others, why dont you pick up the bible and start with the book of john, i dont know if you have or not, but im just saying, why dont you investigate the scriptures and let it speak to you.

it seems to me that atheism is the filler for the void of faith in a person's life.
and honestly, do you believe insinuating others have a problem is going to help stop your frustration and confusion?
try a self-help book. or a psychiatrist. maybe they can help you, since you obviously won't go to God...
