In regards to the baby--have him/her learn both at once. As much as people say that we should only expose infants to 1 language at a time so they won't get confused, it is surprising how adaptable and intelligent they are. Plus, you want to get the sounds in during this time--it is the only way that they will get perfect pronunciation in the languages.

I intend on teaching my children english, spanish and thai from the day they're born. (my close friend is thai and I have 15 years of spainsh background--i learned when i was 7 because a close family member married a spanish speaker).

i'm an English language learner and enable me inform you, this is troublesome. I examine that English is between the toughest languages to assessment for the reason that's a mix of maximum of different languages. besides, i'm 18 now yet i'm getting words puzzled, this is only a huge mess haha. I communicate Spanish and languages like French, Italian or perhaps eastern are lots much less annoying to assessment than English.

It should learn English first because English is harder than spanish to learn. It's more complicated. Therefore by learning English then Spanish, it makes learning a less complicated language much easier. There a lot of differences such as the fact that in English, we say the adjective first, then the noun. In Spanish they say the noun first then the adjective. "The red shirt" translates to "La camisa roja" The shirt red.

This is a huge question. There are many, many differences and similarities. I could get quite in depth on that.

As far as the baby, they can learn both languages at once. In fact, many, many babies do exactly that in many places all over the world. Just expose the baby to lots of talk in both languages, and they will learn both.
