just wondering how i could do this...

if i put my tv volume down all the way and put my home theatre on max volume i can control the sound with my tv remote so that way i can use that remote to turn channels and adjust the volume other than having one remote for the sound and one remote for the channels. my only question though is when i put it on the dvd how can i keep it the same way?

Yes, some TVs have that feature or you may have a simple 4-devices universal control.

Check the User Guide of your TV to see if you can use (and how) your TV's remote as a universl remote. See if they have the code of your DVD player, put it in, and you are all set.

If your dvd audio out is hooked up to the receiver, the tv remote will still contro your sound. Your dvd remote may or may not, it depends on if it's the same make, and what company that is. My dvd remote for my samsung dvd works my samsung tv, but other brands may not work that way. If they are not compatible, buy a universal remote, you can get a decent one for about $30, or go high tech for around $200. Make sure they are compatible with everything you want to use it with, there should be a chart on the box somewhere, or in the instructions inside.

Most universal remotes can be programmed for this use
