Why would an uncle sexually abuse his niece? why would he do such a thing, and why would his wife tell the child "don't say anything because he will go to jail, and you will get in trouble"? how could they do such a thing?

I know quite a bit about child abuse, and I can tell you that it's really difficult to understand why anyone would do some of the things I have heard about. As you may know, the range of things that can happen often goes way beyond what most people allow themselves to ever think about. So there is indeed some "sickness" involved, I believe.

And yes.....it is all too often the case that no one really wants to hear about it, and that the victum is told that whatever bad things may happen, should they dare to tell anyone, will be THEIR fault.....rather than the fault of the abuser.

So.....there is often a mind-**** aspect to it as well. Where every attempt is made to confuse the victum as to who is to blame.

One other truly bad thing is that whenever you hear "child abuse"....or "sexual abuse" disscussed in the media.....it's always the "Stranger Danger" part of it that they want to talk about. Some creep in the bushes with some candy.

Whereas the real truth is that probably at least 85% of it is incest or a close family member that everyone knows.

But.......even in these modern times, apparently still no one wants to hear that.

I hope that this didn't happen to you, but if it did, please talk to someone. A therapist, a school counselor, parents, friends, me. Anyone who will listen. It is sick what this man did and it is so twisted that his wife told you or the person who was abused not to tell so that her husband wouldn't have to go to jail. Honestly though, I have heard many similar stories so it doesn't surprise me, it just sickens me. Sexual predators do not stop with one. Believe me when I say this probably wasn't the first time and it won't be the last. If you don't have anyone to talk about this, you can talk to me and I will do my best to help. Take care of yourself and press charges against this man before he hurts someone else. If it's not you and that person needs someone to talk to, then they can email me as well or IM me. I am on the computer between 10pm and 2am central time and sometimes in the evening around 4-6pm. Good luck and God bless you.

Because the Uncle has a sickness and he needs to be reported so he does not do it to other little children. He is not a man, he has to pray on young innocent children. The Aunt is just as sick and is an enabler. They are both sick and need help. The niece needs to find someone she can confide in and get help and report it to the authorities. So she can move on and heal, with out getting some vindication by reporting it, it won't ever seem to go away. If its you tell someone, if its your neice or cousin, help them. So that other children don't have to deal with it.

Has this uncle been reported to the police and child safety agency? If not, the question is not about the uncle - the question is about you, and why you have not yet picked up the phone and done your part.

If you have, good for you, and disregard the above. But if you haven't - get off Yahoo and do the proper thing!

It is a really sad thing, I know. It's horrible what some people can do and not even feel bad about it, especially to the child. If this has happened to you, then do not keep it a secret, tell someone quickly.

it's about control for men who don't feel in control with their own lives.

the victim must move on and realize it has little to do with them.
