I've heard some "yes" answers and some "no" answers. But what's the real answer? It'd also make it easier if you explain why. Thanks.

Bottom line: if you don't need it, why buy it?

Information on Windows Vista

Microsoft Extends XP Service (Buffalo News, 1/29/07)
REDMOND, Wash. (AP) - Qn the eve of the consumer launch of its new Windows Vista- operating system Tuesday (Jan. 30, 2007) Microsoft Corp. is extending the period in which it will offer support for the previous version, Windows XP.

Consumers who own Windows XP machines already were entitled to get customer service on the software up until April 2009. That date reflects Microsoft’s policy of curtailing its support for an edition of Windows two years after a new version hits the market.

Microsoft recently said consumers who still have Windows XP running April 2009 will be entitled to five more years of “extended support.” In the extended plan, consumers will still get security fixes, but instead of free service from the Microsoft help desk, they will have to pay for most assistance.

Microsoft said the move was meant to bring the support policies for consumers in line with what businesses already have.

Vista has been available for big businesses since Nov. 30, 2006, but hits the consumer PCs market as of Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007

I Haven't Seen It Myself, But From What I've Heard, It Is Not Something Worth Going Out And Buying, But Just Wait Until You Need To Get A New Computer. Bottomline, It's Got Nice Upgrades But Not Worth The Money!

good now's no longer the wonderful time. Vista has been out for a together as, yet there are nonetheless some compatibility themes. distinctly with older video games and instruments. My very own opinion could be to attend yet another 6 months till now going Vista. yet once you get it for the comparable value, you're able to as nicely get it and only set up XP on the pc till Vista is stable.

It is worth getting. Make sure you have a 3D capable graphics card for best results check system requirements for a 3d pc game. It is like brought to life now. Get Home Premium or Ultimate. If you get one of those you will have a lot of good entertainment. It requires a Intel or AMD processor that has like at least 1.4 GHz (1400 MHz). Ultimate has like everything out of windows. Premium is like Windows XP Media Center but it includes like a 3D program. If you need an OS for work then get Vista Offics or something like that it has like financial stuff and all that. I am getting a new pc that has Vista Monday Or Tuesday. Requires 1 GB of RAM.

No. There are too many versions of Windows Vista, none of them except the overly priced Ultimate edition get anything together for good. For example, the creative professional with a budget. You need to have Business Edition, but it has no dvd maker, etc. Home Basic just plain sucks, Home Premium seems good, but for the business person. Ultimate has everything, but for $400, do you need it?

Mac OS X may not have the fancy-shmancy flip 3d, but for $130, it's well worth it.

No wait till you buy a new computer. It takes a gig of ram, preferably two gigs to make it run smoothly. Some that have upgraded, found out their graphics card couldn't handle the 3D mode. It has no special must have feature for me as a home user to make me run out and buy it. At the end of the day it's just another operating system. I would wait, and avoid the headaches. Chow

i used it for 3 days and got frustrated, it still has some major bugs in it, those need to be fixed. Like windows xp, first one wasnt that good, but the one with service pack was a lot better. It wud be wise to wait untill the 2nd release comes out.
