Before my dog gets into the habit of shredding my parents' beloved leather couch, is there anything that will prevent him from chewing it? He already has chew toys to keep him occupied, but he has recently found his way to my dad's glasses.

Will the "Sour Spray" or hot sauces discolor the leather?

CONSTANT SUPERVISION. If that isn't feasible, get a crate for when you are not able to keep an eye on him at all times. I also strongly recommend toy rotation. Keep a few out at a time, keep the others put up. When you get the ones out that have been put away, they will seem "new" to the dog. Keep rotating, it will prevent overwhelming the dog with toys and keep his interest.

Since it is obvious that you do not have a clue about obedience training, your services should be for free. You cannot train even an adult dog for 8 hours a day. About the most that can be done at any one time is 10 - 20 minutes and that is with an adult dog and not a puppy. The attention span on this baby is extremely short and training session should be no more than 10 minutes and twice a day. Additionally, there isn't going to be much learned if you will only be training for 5 days. Obedience training is cumulative and is done over a much longer period of at least several weeks to several months.
What you can charge is determined by your experience, reputation, and accomplishments and in a case like this, should also include guaranteed expectations. Just working with dogs over several years, is not the experience that is necessary to be a dog trainer. There are too many people who are putting that title to their name and fleecing the public. Don't be one of them.

He's still a pup really until he's about 2 years old. There is nothing wrong with putting him outside as long as he has a dog house, food and plenty of water. Crating would be good if you want to keep him as a house dog. No blankets or any thing he can tear up. Rawhide bones are good. If out side put straw in his house its soft and absorbent. If he gets wet from the rain the straw will help him dry.

What you do is sprinkle hot pepper on the couch or try bitter apple spray. You can get the bitter apple at a grocery store or pet store. I did that with my dog and it worked. The dog will take one bite/chew and stop. It might take a couple of tries, but it should work.

Hi there,
One good way of stopping unwanted dog behaviours is attending a traning course. You'll learn the causes and some techniques to solve all your problems with your furry friend. A good online course you can follow is: http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=572

Their method is gentle, simple and most importantly effective. I recommend it.
Cheers ;)

Can I say something? We trained my 3yo Yellow Lab harold to stop barking at the other dogs in just 4 days. How did I do it. My secret weapon is the Dog discipline magic system found on google.

if you want your local pet store might have a product that is called "Sour Spray" or something like that. you first spray alittle into your dog's mouth, then spray it on the thing you don't want it to bite.(some dogs might like this instead of unliking it)

We used to put a light coating of hot sauce or tabasco sauce on our table legs.Test it on the back of the chair first to see if OK for the chair.
